Just been and collected a Crashed 1100 spectre this afternoon  It was Cheap but then it is a Spectre

The Bike had been crashed and then parked up, about 5 years ago. Most of the impact appears to have been taken by the bars instruments headlight area. Looking at it i think i can see a bike in it ........ Somewhere !!

I can see a very tasty base underneath it all!

I have a brand new Z1000P tank kicking about in my shed, doing nothing... and judging by that rear tank mount of yours, it should be a straight fit.

(Which it isn't on a Z1000J and that's why it is still sitting on the shelf)

I may have to add, it was painted flat black with a rattle can to prevent corrosion on the outside, but if memory serves me right, it had a small ding somewhere.

PM me, if you're interested.

Cheers,
Greg (located in Austria, Central Europe)

Thanks for the offer Greg but at the moment im still on the fence reguarding the build direction, i really dont like the Spectre/LTD look :| Which is why i was trying the J tank. I could just paint the whole thing mat black + T Bars and run it"allmost" as is  or i have a set of leading link forks for a Z1100 and a Ural sidecar  but the swingarm pivot width seems to be around the 285mm mark so if i can convert to chain i have a Ducati 916 arm on the shelf......So im spoilt for choice :??

Gary if you need it now pm Greg, which model GPZ do you have Uni :?: Because thinking about it the Tank i tried on was probably off a B1. Having not seen any reference to tank differences i figured the twinshock tanks would be the same

Will do, I'll have a quick look at it, when I am back in my shed. If I don't contact you until the end of the week, please send me a gentle reminder, things are quite busy overhere at the moment...

@Mr. Puffin:

I love your mattblack and highup bars idea. Classic twirled Z-bars would be ace!

Cheers,
Greg

 Sorry for the misinformation in daylight the J/GPZ tank will fit. The spectre`s 2 front Tank locating mounts stick much further out than the J so need trimming back slightly. This allows the tank to sit forward correctly

The seat was in a real bad way and not just from the crash damage.

Then i tried on the Zed style seat unit, but i cant really say it looks good :|

I think it just looks too wide, i suppose it being white does not help out either......

I then offered up an old chopped around Z9 tail, i think this may work ok with a homemade 3/4 lenght seat. Giving the bike a more compact look. A sort of Wrench monkey type of build. I have some Superbike bars on order which should give the look im after.

I like the look of that with the Z9 tail.

Stick at Mr Puffin whichever way you go with it - even the mad max matt black look gets my vote :up
