GPZ1100B1 WINTER TIDY UP READY FOR SUMMER

I bought this GPZ1100B1 a few weeks ago with a view to tidying her up over winter ready for the summer. She is not going to be a full on restoration but a nice tidy up to make sure she can get me there and back without the need to call the old AA out. Thought I had best start a project thread to ensure you lot gee me on to make sure she's ready.

Here she is the afternoon I collected her with help from Ted and his trusty trailer.







Not looking too bad from a distance but close up oh dear !! nothing we cannot fix though.









The frame was ok but has been rewelded at the back as per photo below. So I was left with a choice of leaving as is, rewelding a bit tidier or taking Darren up on his offer of a frame and swingarm only 200 digits differance to mine. I took Darren up on his offer and he delivered the frame to stafford sat morning top man. This gives me the easier option of swapping parts from one frame to another.

That doesn't look bad at all....and it still has the Fi which is a bonus..my B2 had been raped of it's Fi and the tank leaked like a very leaky thing..got a B1 Nos tank but can't seem to find anyone selling a B1 Fuel level sender. Looks like a straight forward paint and rebuild job..nice like it a lot.

The bodywork is at Hutchies place ready for him to work his magic.

Nope the engine is nice runner Mark main problem with this one was the wiring which was shot to pieces. I started repairing the loom then found a decent one in Denmark.

Sorry to hear your injection sysytem was missing baldylocks too many were taken off just because a mate said they will fail. Most of the time it was just the wiring at fault especially the earlier system on the H and B1 very basic and reliable provided you keep an eye on all the connectors in the loom.

Big clocks staying before anyone asks.

Definately not standard Simon but at the moment I have a base coat decided on but struggling to decide on the shading. I think Hutch wants to chuck a way out paint scheme on her!! need to keep an eye on him

Here's a couple of pictures of the frame today plus the swingarm after a good clean up and the bearings taken out ready for the powdercoaters next week. Hope to fit a few parts to the frame tomorrow.

What cleaning product have you used to get that frame ready for powdercoating??

Just looking at the swing arm it seems to have some extra bits welded onto it perhaps?
