From reading other restorations threads on here, paint seems to be prefered to powder coating for a more original factory finish.
There are several restoration threads on here if you want see what other folks have done to get as close to factory finish as possible,if that's what you're looking to do.

I'm not sure that front end in pic 1 will look right.

I think the Z1 bike & bits already look fantastic and I am especially jealous of the 'nice warm 'Operating Theatre' type working environment.
If I had a bike that clean I wouldn't dare take it out unless it rained!
Look forward to following this

Isnt that splitter due to ZedEd's double disc front though?

yes it is ,but even that is i'm afraid the wrong one ,early ones were the same as the h2's set up for twin discs with a longer body .I think z power do a pattern one .

the splitter is now removed anyway as I'm converting it back to single disc.
Not entirely sure what you mean about he headlight, what would the difference be. Its an early model, frame and engine number 2000

it has a genuine 3600 miles on the clock, restored to concours, not seen the road ( or sunlight ) since rebuilt.
The "operating theatre " is our recent conservatory that was required to house the bike, and occasionally sit in

I know opinion is divided here. I've got doubles which in my opinion gives the right brake power to a fast heavy bike. There's quite a few guys I've chatted to at rallies who would love doubles and will bite your hand off for the bits. All I'd say is are you sure about changing?

One other thing to consider is the master cylinder bore size.
If you have a 5/8" cylinder with only one caliper then feel will not be quite so good !
