GB's Mean Green 1170R (Time Warp Edition)

#1 PostAuthor: Ginger Bear » Wed Nov 25, 2009 3:36 pm

Right then, been hankering to start something new for a while.
Back in the summer I won this rolling chassis on good old ebay.
Image
I have a small stash of GPz1100 engines & plan to put the best of all the parts together to make one good engine & fit it into this frame. This recent find will probably be included :D
Image
I had thought about doing something fairly standard using all the original running gear.......................... Then thought B*ll*cks to that, so all the original running gear is now on Ebay.

Kano, it's a Z1000J, but I plan to do some sort of Lawson 'clone' with a difference. I have had an on-off thing for Lawson replica's for a while. The 'on' is I just love that 'in your face' lime green paint, the 'off' is that everbody seem's to have one (please don't take offence). They're fast becoming as common as Z1R's

As you can see, I plan to use something a bit more modern to keep the thing off the ground.
Colour scheme will be based around the early ZX7R's....... Lime green & purple. I plan to have the wheel rims polished & powdercoated in purple, with the bodywork being mainly lime green with possibly Purple & white graphics............ But that's a long way off.
This bike certainly wont be ready for next summer!!

What on earth do you think you`re doing Steve ?

I mean you`ve a stock paint, stock piped and centre standed 1000J there which was just crying out to be restored

Surely one of the nicest bikes Kwak ever made !

There is one 'fly in the ointment' so far.
Image
This frame is a fit fooked, well rotten here & when I removed the forks they were bent   So now I have some doubts about the overall integrity of this frame :no :no :no
With a bit of luck & several PM's from another member I may have sourced another frame :lon :lon :lon
More details if & when it happens, but until then it's :hon

Why do those frames always seem to rot at the same point around the side stand ?
