Got me a Z1a (ish)!

Here's the latest addition which I bought from Ken (aka Surfdeneige). Thought I'd share it with you all. Basically Z1a rolling chassis/engine with my old body parts loosely fitted.

I have a few of ideas but not decided yet. Not in any rush as the Z1b needs finishing first. These are the options,

1. Utilise all the old bits I took from my Z1b (list is growing daily) and hopefully get as near as dammit to a complete bike. The Z1b will end up being close to new condition (if not original!) which I hadn't intended at the start so in some ways it would be nice to have a no nonsense 'unrestored' Zed to knock around on.

2. I recently bought a Zephyr 1100 with the intention of swapping the running gear onto an old Zed a la Reecy bike some of you will be familiar with. Trouble is I quite like the Zephyr (even though I am reliably informed by my kids that the colour is a 'bit gay'), so I'm not sure about breaking it anymore.

3. I just sourced a ZRX1100 swingarm courtesy of Padders and I already have a nice USD ZX9R front end so maybe one of those Jap specials would be fun with oil cooler, fat bars, outrageous paint etc.

There is always another option. I could buy a few grands worth of authentic replica parts from Z-Power and 'restore' it back to original spec, then sell it for £12K  Nothing wrong with that, just doesn't excite me.

Any ideas?

Alright, I have to agree Mr P, but I still kinda like it! It is actually a 4 colour flip, green, blue, gold, and purple (NOT pink), cost some poor bugger a fortune, and looks a lot better in the flesh.

Mikey - Thanks, you might get the wheels and swingarm in the near future for a bit of a shining

I would run with to 70's garden shed special look, as you seem to have all the right bits two four seat z1b paint etc just powedrcoat and a bit of chrome and you will have a nice bike.

I paid £1100. Seems about right with 12mths mot. It would look better with a less vulgar paint job, just seems a shame to spray over what would have been a very expensive job at some point. Dunno....

Davy - 70's garden shed special is a great description, and pretty much what I had in mind originally.
