Well about three months ago, finaly got myself a Z1000. Hoping to have her finished for next summer ( if we get one that is). What I'm aiming for is just a nice clean an tidy Z which will be fairly standard, no show bike stuff, or anything fancy.
what the engine looked like
and the paint work lovely eh
How she stood about a month ago
Now for some hidden horrors
1 cam holder cracked
the starter clutch
can anybody spot the missing part
Tune in next week for the next exciting instalment ( don't worry the medication should kick in soon)

Hi Paul, some folk have no respect for bikes, and should be taken out at dawn.
Well this is how she sits at the moment, new spindles fitted S/S, as is most nuts n bolts, back end mostly complete as is the front end, still got to get the mudgaurds re-cromed, their ok'ish a bit tired looking so a freshin up needed. The engines still a work in progress, apart from the previous mentioned horrors everything else seems ok (whoooo!). The seat base needs a bit of work but can be saved, the foam an cover are good.
The paint work, mmmmmm British racing green(metallic)

, still to get badged up and stripes. Well folks that' all just now, hoping to have the engine back together within the next two to three weeks. Later Folks oh yea Happy riding wherever you are

Hi PJ,
Sorry for not keeping you's up to date

. But don't worry things are moving forward, just not as fast as I would hope, but I guess we've all been there so I'll spare the details. Anyway the engines all back together just finishing off the wiring, then it's oil and filter and petrol. She should fire up, good compression and full new ignition system so fingers crossed. Still waiting on the mudguards, and the odd wee bit, but certainly on the home straight. I'll try and get some pics up soon. promise

A Wee update lads,
Finally got the electrics sorted, ah the joy of fitting a 1970s motorcycle headlight into the shell. The problem turned out to be the a wire in the right handlebar switch unit earthing out, (which was my fault when I re-assembled the switch unit) all sorted now. pressed the starter and four lovely sparks at the plugs, Superb

. Bit of a hold up with both mudgaurds so can't get the back end together, the front end is all done just need to fit mudgaurd. Brakes all bleed. seat going back together had to do a bit of repair work to the base, welding etc. Still a few loose ends to tie up, some brakets, tidy up the wiring, should really get a new harness, but funds dictate otherwise

. Hoping to get her fired up over the Hols.
I know, need to try harder with the pics, my excuse " lazy ".
Later BD
