My pictures have got a bit jumbled so forgive me if they flick backwards and forwards slightly
looking at the crank cases , I keep noticing more locating dowels and more o rings
ImageImageImageImage
Image
I think I've got most of them out now, but some of the dowels just don't want to budge
I don't want to get all 'medieval' on them, so have decided to leave the couple that I can't shift :??

The selector forks etc was the last things to come out of the cases.
the mechanics of them looked quite daunting :??
(I now know that I have 'lost' all my photos of the forks internally, as I was removing them.
I only have the external photos  that'll be a problem later  )
Trying to see how all this worked /came apart was a real test, and to ME it has been the hardest part of the strip down so far( too many parts in direct interaction with each other, and in such a confined space).

Noticed this spring loaded arm sits in a 'gauged' out area.

If you cast your mind back, I found some shards of something in the sump, that resembled 'bakerlite' further investigation found this
Image
it is some sort of 'resin' / filler.
It has been used to repair the back of a thread in the casing
ImageImage
the bolt actually still pulls tight

Started looking at the head and the stripped threads.
realised that 3 or maybe 4 have already had an insert / 'helicoil' fitted.Image
highlighted the openings that need attention
I'll try and get it dropped off at 'mansfield engines' in the week and let the "professionals"
repair the threads

Started getting a few bits ready for polishing, you may recall I had a play with my new blasting cabinet  thd effect on the ally foot peg hangers was spot on :up
ImageImage
this was the pics of the 2 foot peg hangers. The thick black paint came off a treat on the 1 I'd already tested :) it even left the 'nobly' finish which it's supposed to be. Just needed a bit more work.

First thing, I had to remove or mask the black disc (surround for the centre stand lock).
It turned out not to be a decal/sticker :clap
ImageImage
so i was able to remove it whole. (It's not in bad shape and I could re-use it, but I think if they are still available somewhere ((depending on price  )) I will replace it).
The after effect of removing the thick black paint is very good, the hangers should polish up nice

Took my frame and a load of other parts round to the blasters/ powder coaters.
seeing as I'm not trying to build a 'rivet counters dream'  I decided on everything going a shade of gloss black (there are 12 basic shades of gloss black alone :?? )
if I'm honest my head was spinning :star (have you ever heard of too much choice :?: ).
Anyways I took lots of pics before I dropped everything off and listed every part, heres just a couple ( are you getting bored of all the low quality photography yet :?: ). I'll do a comparison after friday when I pick it all back up.ImageImageImage
cheerz freddy :D

When I dropped the cylinder head off, the guy pointed out a couple of potential problems
I've tried to highlight 1 off them (zoom in) using photobucket :wall. I admit I'm crap :turd at this photos malarkey.
Image
theres hardly anything left on the outside part of the head (it's been opened out that much already, that a tiny piece has dropped off :bawl ),he has suggested drilling out the remaining thread, inserting a piece of bar, welding it into place, filing / shaping the outside and re-drilling and tapping back to (I think M6) size. :hot
I SAID YES :tick
anyways it should be done for the close of play on friday

How come my pics look so large on here?
Do I need to 'crop' each 1 or something?

Cheerz freddy :D
(don't forget you are explaining to the 'technically challenged' :fou )
