Will,
The 'Little old Myford' has had a bit of an upgrade!........ Spent a 'few' quid on a three phase motor with a digital invertor c/w remote speed/direction controller........ The old girl has been transformed, it's now possible to machine at much lower speeds. Turned some stainless c'sunk bolts tonight.... Made 'em look quite sexy.... Will post some pics!

Bike has been 'Done' & 'Un-done'.........
First problem turned out to be the dowels between the head & barrels being to long for the skimmed head & barrels, causing a Torrey Canyon style oil leak...... Easy fix, once the problem was diagnosed.
Second problem has been a little more complex & costly to resolve. The bike was suffering from a major oil consumption problem. The head had already been fitted with new guides, so I thought it may be a problem with the bores/pistons. I pulled it all apart again & took it down to Ray Debben to have a look at. He thought there was too much oil being burnt, for it to be coming up past the pistons & suggested it was coming past the newly fitted guides. Another cause/symptom was that the inlet valves have 'kissed' the tops of the pistons. After talking with Steve (aka Big Green Bus) at the Yorkshire rally. it seems the most likely thing is that the cam chain tensioner has 'backed off' on the over run, effectively advancing the valve timing....
So the upshot of all this is............

A replacement head, which apart from a couple of broken fins was in fairly good shape. That went to Debbens to have three angle valve seats cut, along with re-faced & tipped valves. I also had another set of barrels bored, honed & chamfered to suit the 1170cc pistons. Valve guides were deemed 'serviceable' by Ray, so have not been touched. Engine was rebuilt (hopefully for the last time) & I arrived home from me 'jollies' today to find a couple of shims on the mat, courtesy of Phil (aka Thezedsintheshed), so with a bit of luck I'll have it running by the weekend.

Cheers Marve,
Had it on the club stand at Stafford;
I was a very happy boy to win this, which coincidentally arrived today;
Yep...... That's me.
A week later It was down to Ringwood & entrusted into the father & son duo, Ray & Steve Debben;
After an arse clenching 14 dyno runs, Steve managed to coax 120 Rear wheel HP out of it, with a good smooth curve.
