If you put the wiring on, it'll start and you can ride it around
I had the same problem, I finished my resto this time last year. I had never restored a bike before and the wiring was quite daunting. I did however have a load of pictures that I took when I took it apart making it a lot easier.
Which bit is putting you off?

Another fine mess I've got myself into!
so its 9 months since i posted last, I've still got the bike but in that time i found out what it was like to "hit the wall".
i just couldn't face spending anymore time or money on this thing!!
i even tested the water selling it as an unfinished project... most people saying hang in there and Finnish it, realising id loose a load of money i saw sense!
So....... i I've spent a bit more time, sorted the timing but as simple as it seems to some it was the wiring that i just could not get my head around (even though the loom and most electrical parts were new)....., by coincidence i met a well respected gent on the road race scene (specialising in the ZXR400) who funnily enough sorted a race loom and mods on my zxr who lives close , so i asked for his help and he fully sorted the electrics on the Z for me , the points and other small problems that were "a pain in the arse" and was outside of my skill set.
Finally after all i have done in 3 years has paid off she has blood in her veins for the first time since 1995 and fired up, running pretty sweet too!
over the moon doesn't come close and now on with some of the final touches and she WILL be ready for spring 2017.

no matter how testing this whole bike has been..... one of the hardest jobs I've found was putting the bleeding carbs on ...what were they thinking!!
there was swearing left right an cencte=re and stuff being kicked around the garage ... but once they are on its a marriage made in heaven...
