Have had some carb pain and grief but all is now sorted. She is pretty much finished save the exhaust:-

I just couldn't resist pressing the tit - she roared into life. Obviously I could only run her for a second or so with no exhausts, but at least in proved that she lives.

Beautiful job Ralph !! I wish I could be over there for April 20th. There are only a few Z's over here that I even know of, and the only one that I have ever seen with it's rubber on the road has been my mate's Z1-B.

To be fair it usually is - it's only whilst I've been playing with the bike it's got in a mess! The rest of the house is a shit hole mind

You told me about the swinger! I can't believe it's your fault I had to pay so much for it!

Well she's pretty close to finished now. Just need tidy 'arris, speedo cable and mirrors.
I decided that I would fit the scabby 'arris I already have so that I could make up the new bracket. That wasn't easy - I had to fit the bloody thing to the bike and tack weld it with the TIG insitu. I don't like welding so close to new paintwork.
Here's the bracket anyway:

I took the old girl for a quick lap of honour around the village as a bit of a shakedown.

Here's how she looked when I got back:

There was a bit of an oil weep which I thought might be the sump, but I'm not so sure now. I re-torqued the sump bolts and that may have cured it. If not I'll drop the sump and this time I'll use some Wellseal instead of grease, my prefered choice. I might have only gone a short distance, but it felt real good :D

Charging isn't what it could be. Have ordered a new reg/rec from Z1 Enterprizes and another new speedo cable. Having put A2 forks on with the calipers at the back the standard A1 cable wouldn't fit. There's a bit of a oil weep which I think is coming from the ignition casing under the advance/retard unit. I only used grease on the gaskets as in my purist mind that is good. I'll re-seal using Wellseal as 30years down the road grease clearly isn't the answer. As it only weeps when the engine is running and hot, it's not 100% obvious, it could even be from the bolt that holds the two halves of the crankcase together in that area. Only time will tell. Have ordered a few gaskets form Z1Ent as well, to cover my generous arse :??
There's a very slight hicup at lower revs which I am guessing is down to the rather iffy pilot screws. I have sent a couple of e-mails to Z1 Enterprizes enquiring after them, but they don't seem to be communicating at the moment, prolly too busy to be dealing with limeys :(
The old gurl should be ready for the Ace, assuming the weather improves in the next month. Wild horses wouldn't get me sat on her for hours on end in these temperatures

Really nice bike :D
And in that colour combination...so beautiful :D
Nice work indeed on the bike. :clap

I use Threebond liquid gasket, very satisfied, they make the original Kawabond.
Ordered it from Z1 Enterprises. Really nice shop that is.
