looking good like the zedbut unit I thought of one of those but never did.

Picked this up the other day with a 916 unit. But I dont think i'll use it!

Got a phone call Sat morning - from Mike at Talon and he's part way thru' doing the JMC modifications - so should be able to pick it up next week sometime :P

To match the Harrison Billet-6 calipers, I've found a loverly Harrison rear c/w hanger made for a JMC slotted swingarm !!!!

Image

I've also been a busy boy this morning (skipped church  ) and got the engine onto me workbench (OK - so its an old kitchen unit) and took the sump off for a quick looky-see......

So far, so good - all looks OK inside, gears look nice & clean and no visual signs of wear, even on the gear selector forks

So, is the engine a Z1000A1 :?:

Got all me REAR END stuff back from TALON - I had a s/arm pivot sleeve made, a wheel spindle & sleeve and the JMC trimmed down to fit snuggly in the frame :!:

I spent this afternoon getting the wheel lined up spaced centrally.

Image

Image

I had to make some bits myself - the wheel adjusters that fit in the s/arm recess & has the chain tensioner - I used s/s 8mm threaded rod for that.

Image

The Harrison rear brake has a lug that fits under the s/arm and an adjustable cam on top to hold it secure.

The chain run will clear the frame by about 5mm  but I haven't checked it in relation to the drive sprox yet :??

Image

Just awaiting the new stem so I can fit the front end and align the calipers on the forks. I'll need to get an extra lug on each leg to hold the Harrison Billet-6's - this may be a problem as the fork leg alloy can shrink after welding - but my chap will take a look when its time :!: If this is going to be a no-no, I'll make a couple of adaptor plates from 10mm alloy plate.

Gotta get the frame done - not sure whether to POWDER COAT or PAINT, let alone if GREEN or BLACK :?:

I took the clutch cover off to free the plates :| ......as it's been off the road a few years, they needed a bit of gentle prying :!: I also took the opportunity to fit a "Needle Roller Push Mushroom" as well

Now checked all the valve clearances - closest was a tight 0.05 EX - and one inlet at 0.20mm

I always go for powder coat with frames. They get chipped too easily! With something as outrageous as an 'arris, I would defo make it a bright colour :D
