It's so nice to see a 650 get the no time & expense spared treatment that is normally reserved for the bigger versions.
Cinderella you shall go to the ball!!
You should stick this project on www.kz650.info they would absolutely wet themselves and crown you King Guy the 1st with this as bike of the month matey.
Cheers from Mark
There you go Mark...just for you some pics with the seat placed on...it's a 2/4 seat that i brought back in the early 90's.

Thanks Guy
to quote Mikey & Co. that's gert lush chicken
I am not sure on the rear reg. plate angle from the pics - would have to ride behind it to see the effect and decide.
I got loads of new and used 650 parts on ebay this week - and I don't think any of them are good enough for this bike - even the new ones.
Do they ever put a 650 on the Club Stand?? - this would get my vote if they did. Will you be at Stafford??
If you ride this bike up the midz way at any point would love to see it in person. Is it going to be on the road this season??
Keep up the good work mister - I am collecting a few missing/ better bits for my 650 ready for the winter lay off - nothing on this scale though!!

Ok Guy
Not sure which day I'm at Stafford yet cos i work alternate saturdays - but if we can meet that would be good.
Or could pop over for a beer/ curry etc. on the night if you are stopping over cos live nearby.
I've been racking my brains for anything that I could claim was more blinging than the stuff on your bike. And I came up with these two - both well hidden but I shall have to take small comfort where I can.
They are rare (I think) and haven't been stuck on yet....
do you want a peep
If you have been collecting 650 parts for a while you may already have them but it will be fun to compare.
I'm going onto the 650 site in a mo to see what Jim has done.

Hope you don't mind, I can remove it if you want, but I'd be letting others grab some inspiration from this one. Jim

Hi Guy
Your project is on the kz650.info and getting admiring glances matey.
I don't mind sticking my little bits of shiny stuff on here - cos I'm sure most people have made their mind up about my quest for stock condition a long time ago.
Here's the first attempt to match your standard then......
It's the little bits that always got lost - do you got these on the golden goose
If you got better than this fitted I give up and not even gonna show you the other tasty bit.
What do you reckon - even came with a spare!!

It was your post of a few weeks ago that got me thinking about these again - they were missing when I got the 650 and I tried the usual places with no joy. They don't even seem to survive onto breakers yard bikes very often.
These are the same ones as for Z1000 I believe. So scarce I am debating whether to even fit them cos they aren't really that functional are they??
Guy,
They are called limiter caps and they fit over the air screw on the underside of 650/1000 carbs from the factory. I think the idea was to set the air screws so the mixture was right and then pop one of these over the top with the tab in the mid position.
The effect of this is to restrict the movement of the air screw to a 1/4 turn in each direction from the factory setting.
I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS WAS IMPORTANT ON THESE CARBS. CAN PADDERS OR GARN OR SOMEONE SHED ANY LIGHT HERE?
Looks like I got you there Guy
let me know if you have them fitted on your carbs.
If you need the original kawa service manual that shows these and other fiddly bits drop me a pm.
