Thanks for the encouraging replies hopefully we're heading in the right direction and can keep moving...

PJ the carbs are 31mm CRs - £400 from ZPower in October '07 before the government and the banks trashed the £ I don't know or want to consider what they'd cost now ZPower don't seem to be listing them. The forks are ZX9C1 which have the distinct advantage of being only about half an inch shorter than early Zed forks. ( J/1000R forks are a good bit longer.) Yokes have Z offset with 46mm holes and are a good bit wider even than Zx9 yokes to take the spoked wheel and calipers.

discs

#65 PostAuthor: KWACKERZ1 » Thu Jul 09, 2009 11:46 am

Chris what discs are you using on the wheels and have you had to offset them with spacers?

Z-power do floating discs are they the same as you are using, as I want to get some of mine.
Cheers
Phil

The discs in the picture are ZX6, 310 mm same as the C1 I'm using these to measure things up. Most of the late Kawasakis seem to have the same disc bolt pattern (ZX9, ZX7, ZX6, ZRX, Zephyr) but the offset may be different, and the ZX7 certainly had 320mm rotors. I'm going to space these out using washers to get the offset I need, then Trade Direct wil make any disc you like with any offset you want for a price comparable with an off the shelf EBC. The custom offset is £30 per disc so that's the way I think I'll go. If the discs you're talking about from ZPower are floaters to fit standard Z wheels with the standard disc diameter and offset I think they are made by EBC. It's worth comparing the price of a similar pair from Trade Direct.

Update Edit: FYI for anyone going back through this I ended up getting the disks made by EBC i just thought having spoken to both EBC were more likely to deliver on time, just a gut feeling. EBC wil make discs to any spec, there should be a form in their downloadable catalog for special orders.

Benn fiddling about with the bike since the start of the year and decided one good way of moving the whole deal forward would be to get it to go - always a landmark in any project. Got to the stage where we were about ready to go last night, filled it with oil, churned it over without plugs to get it rond the system a bit, and came out this morning to see if any has pissed out onto the bench. Happy days no, so put in some fuel and fingers crossed pressed start... Took a while, pulled out a plug, still dry so must be taking a while to fill the crabs, gave it a bit longer and wahey. we have lift off.

Considering this hasn't run for about five years, and since it did there's a new mk2 crank gone in there, mk 2 alternator, APE mk 2 slotted sprockets which I had to degree in, new 1075 Wiseco kit, and Keihin CRs new but straight out of the box, together with a Kerker from the back of the shed with no baffle to get it running - it's sweet as a nut, no popping, banging farting, lumpiness or hesitation, or hanging on the throttle, I am really pleased! :P :P :P Most times when you start them for the first time they run like a bag of shite.

Listen to this...
Vroom

All of a sudden I'm finishing off a bike rather than f*****g about with a pile of parts.
