Make sure that you thoroughly degrease the outside of the carbs before you put them in your ultrasonic cleaner. Being soft, the grease will just absorb the high frequencies generated by your cleaner.

Carbs have been stripped, and now in bits.
they were in a bit of a state as you can see from previous pictures... heres a few more, things were seized and stuck with old fuel that was like tar!Image

i had bought an ultrasonic cleaner for doing these carbs and everything has been in it, it has done a great job.

most fixings were rusty or oxidised in some way, so i spent the time and used the wire wheel to clean them all up... even the tiny stuff...and don't my finger ends know about it!!

here is parts stripped, ultra sonic cleaned/wire wheeled .. I'm taking bodys for vapour blasting tomorrow and fixings zinc plating... il post pictures when they are back in about a week,Image

correct, its the under part of the fuel cap.

the guys said there was a minimum charge and seen as i had a handful of bolts i removed parts i wasn't happy with to make it up.

amazingly all the bits for zinc plating was only £20
vapourblasting was £30,

sounds like a bargin to me... and very encouraging they had picture of an immaculate GT750 and an RD on the wall they had done the work on, lets see how they come back!

Zinc plating must be the best smile per £ considering how many shiny bit's you get for not a lot of dosh. :D :D :D

agreed..

felt like a total woman choosing between clear or yellow passivate (had seen some done in yellow and looked mint) but decided in the end.. il have it done how it came out of the factory and went for clear.... i keep convincing myself , why change anything.......
