I've been mainly sorting out the old wiring loom and stuff since the last photos - but I have got a few more bits and pieces on.
The Japs seem to like their bikes long and low - which I do like - but I want to do this one as 'pert' as possible without going silly and making it look like a motard. As such, I am just slightly exaggerating the original Z styling cues. The tail is kicked higher, the rear ride height a little higher....and these photos show the clocks raised and tipped back with the headlight raised to follow it. If it doesn't look right I can always drop it down again. (It looked good on one I did years and years ago)
The down side of this particular tweak though is that it is going to make the bars look lower :(

The picture above also shows a peek of the old Raask rearsets which where seriously ugly. New ones seem to be really expensive so I have cut these ones right down and polished them up. I have buggered about with the linkages etc as well with a bit of cutting, grinding, polishing and a bit of anodizing and I reckon they might just look OK when finished.

Thanks.......Headlamp brackets are PMC via Z-Power, I thought they might look good anodized gold to go with a few other bits that will be gold anodized on the bike........I put them in with my batch of anodizing and they came back looking EXACTLY like they were made of brass! oops (I had to shotblast the anodized crust off and then re polish....what a waste of a few hours)

I also tried to anodize the carb tops and fork tops;
The carb tops came back looking mouldy and blackened as if they had been in a really bad fire...... and the fork tops looked as though they had been in a mild fire and then pissed on to give them a slightly yellow tinge.....you live and learn.

Hi

I cant see those headlight brackets on the z power site have you got a part number and how much were they? They look miles better than the bolted up ones I have on mine.

Will be interested to see a side view of the bike when its finished with the clocks raised up like that .

regards Steve R

Here is the link.....you need to convert the yen price to sterling (loads of currency converters via google) I believe Z-Power are about to put an order
into Japan so jump aboard soon!
I will lightly mock up my bike tonight (minus wheels) and post a side shot

Just tested that link but it only takes you to the PMC home page.
So....go to main menu and they are down in the bottom right corner under; "70's custom series 4"

Steve R....Here is a quick mock up of the bike with the headlight and clocks reet oop.
It gives a bit of an idea what the raised clocks will look like but without the wheels it is difficult to picture it exactly... but I reckon it looks really good and the riser is definetly staying. The long mirrors will keep the bars looking high.

(I am waiting for a clear tail light lens so the red one will be gone when it comes.)
Its gagging for some Ohlins but they really seem to fetch all the money on ebay.
It is a bit weird the way I have finished the stripes at the back of the tank but it is a tricky detail and I have yet to see a method (especially with a low profile seat) that looks really neat and any better than this.

I am keeping it off its wheels for now because it is going to look a bit big and obvious in my workshop when it is up on them......I am not sure....but I don't think the boss has noticed it against the wall yet!?

I wish the gold pearl in the black would 'pop' in the photo because it looks great in the daylight but quite drab in the pics
