Hallo,
Having just returned from my annual pilgrimage to the island of rain I can confirm that this bike looks every bit as good in the flesh as it does in the picture.
I was fortunate enough to ride it to the end of the road and back and the exhaust sounded really good even though it still had the street baffle in place.
I must say I am a bit jealous of that Harris, it is just like what I had on my 1100R but the chances of getting it through a German TUV are just about zero.
Sorry to hear about the head gasket but it gives you something to do on those long winter evenings apart from ordering even more trick bits on the
internet !

Bad Day Today
Went in to the shed to check bike was still there. It was but leaning over at such an angle I couldn't see it through the window. The side stand mount has peeled away from the frame and was stopped from further movement by the gear linkage.
Having got the bike sorted and running beautifully this is not what was required, I will have to remove the engine and get the welder out. (assuming there is any metal left to weld to)
Worst case scenario is my brother has a couple of b1 frames - in Germany - any one know if they are the same? Also I want to keep my reg number, can I just register a frame number change on the log book?

Same thing happened to mine. Luckily it was just the main mounting bracket that pulled away from the frame at the weld.
I stood on the side stand until it was back in place and mig welded it on the underside with the engine in place and battery / tank/ rectifier removed.
Not been a problem since.

Good luck hope yours is as straight forward.

I decided to take the engine out and see how bad things really were. I cut through the frame with a thin angle grinder disc leaving half the frame intact.
There was a little surface rust on the inside of the tube but nothing a little rust killer couldn't sort. I got similar diameter tube and sliced it longways so that I could fit it inside the frame at each end.

I then made some more to fit where the frame bends

This lot was tacked together and then I welded the original bit of tube back over the new internal tubes.
I welded a half piece of tube to the side stand bracket that would fit over the outside of the frame and then welded the whole lot up at what I hope is the correct angle

Now all I have to do is pop the engine back in.

nice job that but be careful the welding may have distorted the bottom tube
way too many Zeds
