OK, some progress.......
Split the cases last week, degreased them, then jet washed them.
Spent a while bead blasting them, to what I thought was a reasonable standard....................
......................... After looking at Bongo's vapour blasted cases at the weekend, I realised, I'd never be happy with the finish I'd achieved, but didn't want to spend a chunk of dosh (I'm trying to keep this project as low budget as poss)
So they were back in the blast cabinet, with some 120 grit Aluminium oxide, that really did knock off all the shit, then I emptied all that out & put the glass beads back in & went over the cases again. Gotta say, I'm quite happy with them now.
One benefit for me, over vapour blasting is that I only do the outsides, I know vapour blasting isn't meant to remove any material & is supposed to be fine on bearing/mating surfaces, but after cleaning these up with some fine wire wool, you can still see the original machining marks.
Spent most of today, washing the cases & oilways, used a little rag on a wire, as per Rob (Zed1015)..... Thanks, Rob.

Re-Tapped all the threads too.
Steadied cases & fitted a replacement crank, as the original has a suspect taper. Got to say thankyou to young Mr Coldsummer for helping me out with a lot of replacement engine parts.
That's enough for tonight!
