REARSETS DONE

#46 PostAuthor: z1000puddin » Thu Dec 27, 2012 8:07 pm

Managed to get the rear sets all up & working fine.
These are Raask pedals & the rest is home made.

I am not 100% happy with the rear brake adjuster off of the master cylinder. I may change this as it just doesn't look right

Well I couldnt put this off any longer, I was hoping for a bit warmer weather, as it is bloody freezing in me garage, even with the heaters on. :|

I received my 2 over length mandrel bent link pipes & couplings from Dave (Exhaustcraft)

I knew this was going to be tight & it was,
I decided to tack the pipes in situ, thinking this would be easier. But in hindsight I would have been better doing it on the bench.

I had my Invertor TIG plant Newark RT2000 home from work, but I forgot to take the stubby cap, so with a long cap it was bloody awkward getting access in the back of the frame tubes.

I have a slight misalignment on the connector just before the baffle box but this wont be seen as it is hidden behind the frame tubing.
Tacked up a small bracket, which will bolt onto one of the the existing center stand lugs.

So I dismantled the two sections & will get them welded up at work tomorrow.I will also fit a couple of stainless steel springs/lugs onthe bend just before the baffle box.

Once I receive the paint set from Si, I will finish of the twin outlet tail pipe.
That just leaves the ceramicoat to be done.

Rear Brake

#49 PostAuthor: z1000puddin » Mon Feb 04, 2013 9:11 pm

Decided to get the rear brake cylinder adjuster sorted out.
I think this looks better ...
12mm ally 6082t6
Machine tapped M8
Drilled & counter bored, with a 1mm spot face to take the 16mm dia. ally bar that connects to the pedal.

I think I will just polish up & leave it.

Brake lever - have you thought about moving the cylinder to give you a straight push or a cranked arm , rose joint on the lever?

Rich,
I did look at that option, but having the cylinder angled up, just didnt look right with the mount plate lines. It kinda threw everything all to cock.

The pushrod that goes into the cylinder does pivot/swivel, so I do have a small amount of free play.
The rear brake works well as it is but I still need to fit a M8 lock nut

Steve,
Dave at exhaustcraft had done a fantastic job with the 4-1 & the collector,
I just need to tell everyone that the link pipe & the rest was down to me as it is not as perfect as Daves work- my TIG welding isnt what it used to be (been off the tools too long)

I should have got one of my welders at work to do the welding, it might have blended in better with daves work.
I actually fitted a variable baffle inside the rear box ( just for Mr MOT man)
So when it is baffled closed it is quite normal.
But with it fully open it has a great sound   :D
