Had a bit of time yesterday, but not long enough to get stuck into too much.

So I resolved the yoke/stem top bolt.

What I didn't want to do was use a standard M16x1.5 bolt. It just would have looked out of place. Finding anything suitable with a M16x1.5 thread was a problem, so I bought an M16x2.0 stainless countersunk bolt.

Image

Hacked off what I didn't need, cut a 1.5mm thread & trimmed the head. :D

Image

Now sits almost flush on top of me top yoke with the help of a dished aluminium spacer I turned up some time ago.

Another busy week working to put money in the bank, in readiness for my annual arse raping by HMRC has not seen me find much time to spend on this.

Resolved a couple of things though. :D

Koso clock electrical plug is waterproof, so doesn't require a 'boot'.

Looks pig ugly if you ask me.......

Image

I contacted the supplier & was less than pleased with the response..... Maybe I'll shop somewhere else in future.

After lots of digging around on the internet, I found these.....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271226779402? ... EBIDX%3AIT

Image

Image

After a bit of heat......

Image

Fitted to the bike, something I can live with.

Image

The other issue I've got on top of, is the catch tank. I could start a shop with the amount I've had from ebay. :|
Eventually I've made my own. Bought a couple of 'flasks' from ebay...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252111930092? ... EBIDX%3AIT

Fitted an AN-8 bulkhead fitting & a couple of stainless rubber clamps & we're in business... :lon :lon I will fit another AN-8 fitting as a breather once I see what space is left after fitting the electrics.

Made a start on my electrics. Like my 1170R project, it will be a RFID keyless system, just using a fob to switch the ignition on, but now using a latching relay & the kill switch to switch the whole lot off. It can't be switched on again until the fob is passed over the sensor. (Taffus deserves some credit for this..... He put the idea in my head. :?? )

Carved a mounting bracket from some aluminum angle.

Image

Then took advantage of being 'home alone' and baked on some acid etch primer, then a couple of coats of Hammerite Satin Black.

Bolted it all together, then pre-wired it on the bench.

Image

Fits in here.....

Image

Even has a cover. :D :D

Wiring is now all done & dusted. :D Took a lot longer than I'd have guessed.

Image

Next up was to prep the motor for it's first start. :??

I must admit, I've not been rushing into this, after hearing many tales of woe with regard to 'breaking in' new cams.

Info from Joe Hooper & just about anyone else with an opinion is that the first 20 minutes of running is the most important for any new cam. :?? :??

Firstly I wanted to check the oil flow. Cranking the motor would turn out the oil light fairly quickly. Because the oil has to flow up and back to the oil cooler before it reaches the cams, I removed the cooler outlet hose. I was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly the cooler filled, so stopped cranking...... Fecking oil didn't stop. (Sorry no pics.... I had me hands full...... of oil. )
I have filled the bike with Delvac diesel oil, again following Joe Hoopers instructions, as it contains Zinc, which is apparently a very important ingredient for new cams.
Next tip was to cover the lobes with this pink goo.

Cam cover and carbs re-fitted..... just need to add some fuel and hit the button. :cl

After not touching this at all over Chrimbo, I managed to pull me finger out this afternoon & finally fire it up........

It all went very well. :lon :lon :lon

Rev counter needs programming..... It reads double.  But is an easy fix.

A couple of cabling issues to sort & bleed the brakes then there's no reason I can't test ride it. :sou :sou :sou :sou
