Update...............

As it was a bit "brass-monkey's" over Xmas I didn't reallt do much to the bike...... until the last week or so. I have removed the head c/w .420 cams & started freshening the standard head I possess.

I have a choice of standard cams and some nice clean webb .395's

I have lapped the valves in, fitted new stem seals and springs. I think I'll try the Webb cams first. These are the old Z900 "roller chain" 3-point mounting for the cam sprockets, so I have ordered some adjustable APE sprox to convert them to the HYVO chain.

Soon as they arrive I shall set the valve clearances on the bench. The shims and buckets are normal top fitted shims so will be easy.

So hopefully it'll be sorted in a few weeks time :??
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Hi Brent - The heads on the bike - nice and snug like

The collector pipe where the downpipes meet was starting to split - so I took it into work and got it welded up :D

I was gonna get it all back and start her up today, but the clutch on me Trumpet was playing up, so I was fiddling with that this afternoon.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to make some more headway tomorrow - after the Bell Ringing & Choir practice, obviously

How's your Devil Monster Beast coming along me old mucker :?:

Been in the garage tonite - and cobbled the bike back together roughly to test out the replacement head :??

Well, it appears to work :xbou :lon :rir

Trouble is, there is oil pissing out of the front left (#1 piston) cylinder head joint

Not unexpected coz I just swapped the heads over with the same gasket - as I didn't want to throw more cash at it to find the new head was fooked.

Anyhow, the bike started on the button  and sounded real sweet. I couldn't warm it up properly coz of the oil running out, but I'm confident its gonna be OK .......... So as soon as I can get me hands on a COMETIC head gasket to suit 75mm pistons, she'll be ready to roll :P

That's what I have. I ordered one from Gremlin.... Just assumed it would be a one piece...... Silly me :fou
I am wondering do I try & use an old (good condition) 'O' ring, or use a brand new one from a pattern gasket set, or............. Spend a load more wedge on a new genuine Kawasaki job :?

I think I know the answer.................... & it ain't the cheap option.
