Cheers Garry,

Yep I only just got the dating letter from Kawasaki.
Deffo produced March 1978 for Italy.

But the R model was a slow seller - and they were promoting them at a value price in Summer 79 - with free touring tank.

So I suppose a gap of a few months from manufacture to registration is not unreasonable. Not sure what dating evidence the original age related plate was done with back in 1995.

It can seem a little random the way the DVLA issue dating plates. I registered a 4/76 A4 a few years ago and it was given a 'P' plate which is right, but I've seen A4's on an 'S' and even 'T' plates?....

Out of interest. I know Z1R silencers are available new, but can you get the collectors and downpipes?.

Bootifull, another Z1R fit for the road, well done on that one. :D

Garry, the down pipes and collector box only second hand as I am aware.

Yep that is right -
Down pipes and collector boxes not avail yet as repros.

Hopefully one day they may do so - but demand is much less than for Z1, CBX, H2 pipes etc.

Doesn't help that later Z!-Rs had a different collector box and two silencers

So the return on tooling up would be halved.

I'm sure all you Shed owners will be watching this one with more than a passing interest David .

Personally not seen a Shed break the £12K barrier, but given the quality of Marks resto I think this could be the one. Intersingly If Mark gets his asking price it will in effect make it worth more than many restored Z1's.... Oh the irony!.

Had my chance for a decent Z1R last year and never took it, looks like I've missed the boat now given the way prices are heading.

Good Luck Mark, hope you achieve the full price.

Cheers Dave,

I wanted to give it a 30 day advert to see if there is a collector out there who wants it (only needs one person to click). So it had to go on now cos we are supposed to be moving house next month.

I already had some interest from Japan, so that is nice. If nothing else it will raise the profile of the marque.

If it comes to the new house with us it will probs have to go back into storage for a while cos there will be a load of house stuff to be getting on with after we have moved in.

Mark - great looking bike. I will offer you what you offered me for my Z1000 and I don't need the watch as I have two of those already with consecutive numbers :D
Inheritance? What inheritance? He spent it all on booze, women and Zed parts!

Cheers Scott,

That's a rare one Mark (Piglet) - you just need a nice mint Z900 A4 from '76 and you will have the Dream Team
