Borrowed a friends valve spring compressor. (That made life easy).
Image
"BORROWED" one of the kids 'magnetic darts',( they don't play with them, honest), to help catch the collets,(just the tool for the job).
ImageImageImageImage
all valves out, with no dramas
is there an easy way to clean the valves up?

Previous builder managed to turn an 'o' ring into an almost perfect 'triangle'.
Image
Bores look in good condition. Reasonable amount of carbon build up on top of pistons?

Barrels are off and they look wonderful :P
ImageImage
The cylinders look, I think in perfect condition?
There are no score or scratch marks in the bores.
Image
I've got to think that a previous owner has had this engine re-bored :?:
any thoughts on this?

Pistons look in excellent (newish) condition :?:
ImageImageImage
pistons say "107" on one side and "ART" on the other side.
other than some carbon build up on top, they are like new :up :tra :party

Isn't there anything written on the pistons saying they are oversize?

Richard

PS You are ripping into that quickly enough aren't you ? :D

I have asked this question before, but never got a definitive answer.
is the sump bung supposed to be magnetic?
This one definitely is not.
ImageImage

The oil filter bolt has seen better days. I had to hammer on a 9/16 socket to get a bite.
ImageImage
The oil filter was seriously twisted. Can't of been working too well.

Removed the sump and holy f**k. What a load of thick shit.
ImageImage
Hiding amongst the thick black shit was copious amounts of black silicon, several small springs, end of a bolt/ stud and some sort of (open on one end) dowel. Oh, and I almost forgot, several small flat pieces of something that looks like 'bakerlite' plastic.
Any ideas where some of these have come from????

The pick up strainer has got plenty of silicon attached of course.
ImageImage
Everything in the oil pump looks fine,(because all the shit is still in the sump  )
