Cheers Sanderz....sorry for delay in replying. Just got back from a week in, a very wet, Cornwall. Stayed in a cottage so remote that we had no internet or mobile reception...both a blessing and a curse at the same time!!!!!

Guy, you're artwork is brilliant mate !!!!!

Not too much happenened over the last couple of months, but here are a couple of photos I took yesterday of latest developments....I have machined the steel plate, that fixes to the frame, that doubles as the fixing for the V&H pipe and will also become the fixing plate for the rear calliper torque arm. I purchased a patent front brake master cylinder to keep everything period...this meant that the handlebars needed to be wider so I now have 34" `broomstick` drag bars. It'll be the torque arm neImagext....

Like that fixing plate for the pipe and torque arm - very neat :up

Proper drag bars those "broomsticks" - or "Denton bars" as a mate used to call em. Tried them meself a long time ago but found my girly wrists couldnt take it ha ha, so have opted for Vincent straights (slight kick in them) ever since.
There usually 30" tho - is that what you had on before?

Keep it going!

Looks absolutely fantastic, well done that man.
Did i see a topic in 'discussion' about anchoring the rear brake torque arm to the swingarm vs the frame or did i imagine it?

Cheers chaps...yep, 30" bars were what I had on there before...just not quite wide enough with the master cylinder fitted and the bracket that houses the tacho. Zorded...you're not imagining things..after a bit of head scratching and some advice from the guys on here I have decided to mount the torque arm back to the frame....the rear calliper has been machined and a needle roller bearing inserted....this will now be secured by a torque arm that has rose joints either end....keeping everything free running and `fluid`.

 Such astounding machining you've done there Paul!!
As you know I'm planning on a low stretched z1000 project as well soon, I've been looking around youtube for the solution to front sprocket offset for the rather wide rear wheel I'm planning, what are your thoughts on the use of the 2 chains: 1st chain from standard front sprocket as though it's driving the standard rear sprocket offset for a 130 /140 tyre width, on a spindle located close to , but clear enough from the swingarm pivot point, that drives an adjacent sprocket that is offset to the required clearance for the oversize rear tyre ? I realise that would need quite a change in gearing for the rear sprocket(s), but just wondering if it would be more hassle than it's worth?

Due to a petrol spillage that ate into my A4 green paintset when filling up outside Calais on the way to the Biker Classic at Spa the other week I've had to swap my drag bike paintset over.

The A4 will stay in this scheme until Simon of `Flying Tiger Paintwork` can work his magic on my green set. I've sat the green set on the project bike and I think it looks pretty cool....bit like an A4 on steroids!!...I think it's something to do with the spoke wheels and (nearly) standard seat.

Things coming together slowly with the project bike...hopefully firing her up in the next couple of months.

Nice one Paul, can't wait to see the next update of your period style dragster.
Sorry to hear about the A4 paintwork damage, but nice to know Si will be putting it
right again for you. Take care mate.

Having finished the engine the project bike gets wheeled out of the garage for the first time for months. Still waiting for the larger main and pilot jets to arrive, but I fitted the carbs to get an idea of the overall look. She's still in my old Z900 paintset....Simon (Flying Tiger Paintwork) will be working his magic with a take on this scheme but with a lot of 70's metalflake....shouldn't be long now until the first fire up.
