We normally wait months for people to simply answer the phone.

Can't wait to see it all come together.

Love the MK11's

It was about time something happened to this project. Only about a month away until I want to be riding it. Gotta hurry up.

Anyway, just ordered £800 worth of parts. New electrical gauges, new wiring harness, new headlight, new headlight brackets, new emblems, new decal kit, etc. etc.

Hopefully it'll get busy in the weeks to come.

Small update.

Cleaned the engine up the other day so it's nice and clean when the time comes to put some fresh paint on it (which should be this weekend).

Image

And when I was going to drain the oil from the engine, I made a nasty discovery. Some previous owner has used the wrong tools... even with a 2' long pipe wrench it was hard to remove the plug.

Image

And last but not least, the old man hacked up some material he had lying around into a engine lift inspired by the one seen in Jappen's Mk.II build thread. Didn't take more than two hours to build and works flawlessly. Lifting the engine in without messing up the powdercoat should be a lot easier now.

Image

Might be getting the new gauges and emblems from Webike tomorrow. Also expecting the new wiring harness from Germany.

Dropped off the drawings for the new yokes to my friend so hopefully in a couple of weeks, the bike should be taking shape again.

Big meet?

I was thinking about going to Euro Katana 2012 with my Suzuki but I probably wont be able to go. Plus it's all the way to Bordeaux (3500km one way).

Germany is a lot closer.

Tell me more. :D

Hm... that's not a really long trip compared to going all the way to the west coast in France.

Tempting.

Got to see what my work schedule will be like.

Got a lot of stuff yesterday in the mail from Japan and Germany.

First was the new PMC wiring harness from Z-Fever. Looks amazing compared to the old, half-rotten harness.

Image

Next was the stuff from Webike in Japan.

New emblems for the tank and side covers. Tank emblems from PMC, side emblems from Doremi.

Image

New gauges with white faces from PMC.

Image

And today I got the engine painted in a nice satin black. Going to clean the sidecovers up as well as the valve cover and then polish and paint them. Oil pan will get the same treatment.

Image

Hopefully I'll have the engine in sometime tomorrow. More pictures then. :D

Finished up the engine today so we went ahead and put it into the frame. The engine hanger was a lifesaver. No crushed fingers, no screaming and cursing - nothing.

Image

Managed to smash my forehead into the left side (open end) of the engine hanger which had a sharp corner. Here's the result. OK so I did curse, but not because of the engine. :D

Image

Engine hanger removed.

Image

It's amazing what a lick of new paint and some polishing can do. Looks almost better than new.

Image

And a final shot with the carbs on.

Image

Next is aligning the rear wheel properly and figuring out the right offset for the front sprocket (looks to be about 18mm).

Hopefully it won't be too long until I hear from my friend regarding the new yokes. More to come!

Great job and pictures too.
Bet that bump on the head felt a hell of a lot worse than it looks.
I try to invent new words when that happens which is a lot just now.

Thanks.

And yes, it barely touched my forehead but it hurt like a bitch. Wouldn't do it again for any money in the world. Maybe for a custom titanium exhaust though...

Hopefully it can keep going as smoothly as it has these last couple of weeks. My friend called today and he was hard at work with the new yokes so fingers crossed, they might be ready by the weekend.

Need to find a new plug for the sump or repair the one I have. Tomorrow I'll probably cut out some new gaskets for the engine covers and sump. Shouldn't be too much work.

Jappen wrote:Nice gauges Viktor....

Yeah, they were really nice. Now it's just a matter of figuring out the wiring. I know plenty of Japanese but unfortunately, I don't read it as well as I speak it... :|

Oh well, it shouldn't be a problem. Worst case I'll talk to you or Morten about it since you both seem to use them on your bikes. :)
