HARRY'S Z1000 H

#31 PostAuthor: HARRY4448 » Wed Sep 16, 2009 8:58 pm

Paul,
I have the original four into two system. When I have sufficient funds I am gonna get Mikey to rechrome it for me.
I can buy a NOS original system but can't justify the cost.

I can't justify the cost of rechroming either but as the system has no dents and just surface scratches and very mild corrosion I think it'll be worth it.
I think it'll "make the bike".
I was looking for a replacement seat cover but they just aren't available so I have begrudgingly settled for a Mk 2 cover.
Still looking for an acceptable rear disc and a few odds and ends which I'll probably get from the states as they're not available here.

Glad you like the bike so far.

Got to say, I haven't seen another H, only in pictures so the guide for the resto is a factory catalogue and a poster which is mounted in the garage to spur me on.

Regards

HARRY

Blimey Taillift,
you've got a good memory.

Thanks for your confidence Paul, i would agree, i am sure we've never had an "H" on the club stand at Stafford. Remember, in the earlier years, the later bikes wouldn't have been eligible anyway.
Be nice to see Harrys on the stand, [always good to see something that's bit of a rarity], but he would need to contact Jerry, [by phone pref.] , to find out if it's possible.
Just out of interest, i knew a lad who had an H brand new, he loved it and never had any problems. Unfortunately, he had it stolen. I also knew of a couple of others who had them but had nothing but problems and ended up selling them.
Be interesting to know how many were imported into the UK, via Kawasaki and how many there are left with the fuel injection still fitted.
Does anyone know exactly how many were made?
It appears that they were only sold in a few countries, [for whatever reason] and only had a short production run.
Four pipes rule, anything else is second best.

Thank you for all of your kind words.

I would love to have my bike in a show but there is a way to go yet.
I still need to finish off a number of things such as the exhaust system and locate some other bits and pieces. This takes money whcih unfortunately at the moment, just like lots of people, I haven't got..... Yet.
I don't want to count my chickens but....

The fuel injection worked prior to the resto. There is no reason to suspect that it won't again.
I will post more images as the project progresses but it will be a bit slower than of late.I only started the project in March and quickly ran out of savings.

From articles I've read I am led to believe that only 200 H's were imported into the UK in 1980 only.

There are more out there but I have no idea how many have survived, maybe only a handful.
This makes it rarer than a 72' Z1.

It would only take one bike to fetch good money Paul.
Then the rest would follow.
Who would ever have imagined that Z1's would sell for 10k plus.
Definately not me.
I think the Z1000's time will come soon enough.
GS1000's are creeping up and up.
The price of spares are on the up and up. Just look at Ebay.Or Z Power.
I just hope they continue to be affordable (ish) so we can keep collecting fixing/chopping/street fighting and riding them.

"Let the good times roll"as they say.

Cheers
