With most parts of the bike stripped & in other parts of the country being worked on by people that can do stuff I can't, I've had a little time to work on some of the smaller, detail stuff.
This is the tale of my speedo bracket......
What came with the speedo, was just a piece of pressed steel, that would have sat the clocks far too high. What I didn't want to do was add a bracket to a bracket, so I mocked up some wood & clamped it under the top yoke, just to get my positioning/dimensions right.
Next was to sketch this & send it to Mike at Full metal ornament.
Mike wasn't sure he could make what I wanted & suggested an alternative in stainless bar. Both options are pictured here;
After a couple of days thought, I half reluctantly agreed to have it made in stainless, thinking I would powdercoat it black. After another week or so, Mike came back to me, saying he'd fathomed out a way to make the piece from billet..... Game on, plan 'A' is back in the game.

I'd also told Mike, I wanted as much relief as possible (NO JIMMOCK!) taken from the 'ski slope'....... Mike came back with three options.
I went for option 3 & a few days later, the postie delivered this piece of art.
Last night, I managed to drill & tap the underside of my top yoke, then fitted the speedo bracket.
Speedo & headlights were re-fitted today, just to check it's all in the right place.
Gotta say, I'm quite happy with it.
