1 leg has an oil drain hex head bolt.
The other has a Philips head bolt.

On the edge of the main spring there is (the shiniest bits) some minor signs of wear.
It measures well within it's 'tolerances'.

Tried like hell to remove the allen head bolt from the bottom of the legs :swe
I couldn't even get them to move
(From what I'd read on several occasions, the problem was always the whole lot turning :?:
this was definitely not the case  )

If it is important to you, the fender bolts are 8mm x 16mm with 12mm head, with spring washers below.
The drain bolts are 4mm x 8mm long with cross head, with gasket [copper washer?] below.

Had to take the legs upto the old garage (vice :press and air / impact drill :drill was required  )
1 bolt came out with some 'extra' persuasion :ws
the other one needed the now familiar treatment
the allen head eventually rounded off  and after some drilling with the air drill and then eventually 'cutting' a slot in it :?? I managed to wedge an old flat bladed screw driver in :viking
Image
Image
And out it came :clap :hot

back at 'moon base alpha'
I could see what was left of the bolt
(I'll keep this for reference until replaced  )

In the 'manwel' it mentions using a 22mm bolt head, down the tube to stop the damper (if needed) from turning while removing the allen headed bolt.
while trying different 'methods' to remove said bolt, I tried feeding an 1/2" extension into the end of the damper (read it incorrectly on here before  ) I could not see for the life of me how that was possible  :no

When you've got the damper rod out in front of you it is clear to see what manwel was referring to

Looking in the end of the fork tube theres an obvious difference.

I am now doubting myself
when I pulled the tubes out of the legs they went with a twang

Is it the bush that's missing? if so what are the dimensions as I have an odd one here from an A4 you can have but not sure if the size is the same.

it is a 'bush' thats missing  it's about the size of a 13mm 1/2" drive socket
I'll give it a proper measure when I can get in the garage later.
