engine is good, will clean it myself with a toothbrush and solvent during the winter.
front forks/wheel etc off now , just need to remove coils electrics battery box and engine now .

Paul - wouldn't it have been easier to get the engine out before you removed the front end

I always remove engines your way Guy, but there is a school of thought where the engine and frame is laid on it's side and the frame lifted on / off the engine. Many folk swear by this method and maybe I'll try it next time. The logic goes that the frame is much lighter than the engine and you're less likely to do damage to the paint on the frame that way. Not tried it myself.

I allways remove the engine by stripping it down to a frame and engine then laying it on its side, on an old foam settee cushion and lifting the frame off . Its much easier to lift the frame as its so much lighter and you are much less likely to damge your paint or your back and it makes it an easy one man job.
When putting it back in it helps to remove the cam cover just to get that litle extra bit of clearance and rap the exhaust dtuds in some tape to stop them scratching the frame.

engine out no problem , bike on its side and frame slipped off as previosly mentioned. didnt mine scratching it a bit getting it out , but looks a difficult job when putting it back,

Wnt be a problem, leace cam cover off tape over exhaust studs chock engine up with some timber and take your time manoevering it over. No problem

If you need a hand putting the engine back give me a call. Best to remove the exhaust studs if you can but not absolutely necessary.

like steven cooke i have also been working on my project over the winter
months, (sadly not to the same standard)
stripped bike down , got the engine out by tipping it on its side no problems there. sent frame and other parts to powder coaters polished all the nuts and bolts up clocks refurbished , and swapped tank set with hutch.
dogbollox came around the other day and engine went in as easy as it came out cheers mike . bolting bits and pieces back on now so slowly but surely getting there.
