Use the TOUGH BLACK. It is branded both as Simoniz or Sperex in near identical labelled cans.

Yes! I've been using it for a few years .
Look at page 6 onwards in my zed900 road racer project a few places down from this to see the results.

I put them in an 'ultrasonic' cleaning bath - tried a 'heavy' detergent first but it covered the ally in white 'furry' stuff. Cleaned them up again and put them back in with a milder detergent - came out clean as a whistle
