And mine is the smoother, revvier (is that a word?) 70 - which compared to the PC50 that I also have, is a flying machine!

Spent a bit of time before christmas prepping the engine for paint - nothing more than a good degrease, a wire brush to move the loose and flaky bits then wet and dry to smooth it out.
Image
Heated the garage as best as I could then got the hot air paint stripper to warm it all up before liberal application of PJ1 satin black, left the hot air gun pointed at it to keep the engine as warm as possible
Image
Even though it wasn't totally stripped it came out pretty good

Back where it belongs. More room created to get on with the next bit - prepping all the panels and brackets for paint.

Wiring loom went back on this weekend, fitted the refurbished footrests and hangers
Image

This allowed the battery box and my home made tail tidy mudguard to be fittted
Image

the fairing frame and headlight bowl were de-rusted and painted with etch primer and aerosol satin paintImage

Started on the exhaust system which will be a mix of Sebring downpipes and collector with home made kerker look-a-like silencer, the standard sebring end can is too loud and needs cutting open to re-pack it.

Finally got somewhere with my exhaust, although not quite sure I like the result.
I cut up the Sebring collector box and re-angled the outlet pipe so it missed the centre stand mounts. I bought a 60 degree bend for the next section then made a cone to go to join to the silencer bit. The welds need filing back some more but it lines up with the footrest hanger, the Harris baffle I had lying around fits a treat, although it will be fitted only for MOT purposes - a freer flowing item is under construction. It looks ok from the back but a bit bulky and almost Motad'y from the side which wasn't quite what I was after! When its painted it might blend in better.
The bodywork is now painted, next job is to put the decals on. I got them from Image works (sorry Will) as they came with the stripes which saved a load of money on paint. I am not looking forward to sticking them on but when its done its one step closer.

http://www.socalcustoms.com/Shop//vinyl ... ctions.pdf

I used to apply a lot of vinyl graphic's & still have a small stash of 'slipeeze'. Feel free to drop me a pm if you'd like some.

After a tutorial from GB I got the courage to apply the decals to the tank - No fun was had at all. I got stressed and shouted at the children for coming home early and disturbing my concentration, I got told off for using the dining table, I dry fitted them about ten times each side to ensure they were in the right place when compared to a factory brochure and finally bit the bullet, sprayed on plenty of water with a drop or 2 of washing up liquid and slapped them on.
It wasn't as tricky as I feared, there are a few microscopic imperfections but generally I am quite pleased with the result.

All decals stuck on and in the correct places - probably. They get lacquered over next week and then I can ready it for the road, brakes to be bled, exhaust to be painted, cables lubed and carbs fitted. That lot could take at least a month at my current rate.

I love the original colour scheme, are they decals to be bought, might steal the idea for mine, although am going for stealth matt black, remember that one paint it black it will go faster, yeah !!!

Being a solutions engineer,artistic is oblivious,so I steal other's ideas,but credit is always acknowledged..thanks..enjoy your motor
