That engine came out well. Lovely bikes the Zephyr 750, best of the range imo. I had the 1100 as well and its a heavy old lump compared to the 750.

Looking forward to seeing this one finished.

I know what you mean, I also had one, the only thing I never liked about the 750 was the shape of the tank where it meets the side panels if you know what I mean, why it wasnt more like the 550 or 1100 I dont know.

Looking good. What are you doing with the wheels ? I would of thought that they will clean up. The spoked wheels on my 1100 were in a mess when I bought it but I took each wheel out and spent a few hours on them with the solvol and they came up like new.

Yours must be rare with wire wheels on an 1100, I dont think I have ever seen one in the flesh.

I intend to clean the spokes as the wheels will let the whole project down, I was thinking of using scotch brite pad with solvol then to finish with rub n buff, I think they will take a few hours each wheel!

Bit more done, new sterring head bearings fitted, yokes, clocks and handlebars back on and one fork leg polished.

It is a filthy dirty job but the end results are well worth it, cant beleive how many rough casting marks there are on the legs, quality certainly went down when they built these Zephyrs.

Collected the front wheel from SFX wheels this morning and fitted it to the bike and was able to wheel it out in the sun for the first time, still loads to do yet.

I seriously need a wider man cave so I can get a better side on picture.

Just need to get the rear wheel respoked, paint a couple of brackets, make another exhaust bracket then enjoy it.

Great job you've done, the paint scheme suits the lines really well too. Are the tank badges the adhesive ones? What do you think to them? I'm doing my tank at the mo and prefer the z1 lettering to the upper and lower case font of the later zeds.
