Check the oil level, ideally you want to be close to the min level on the sight glass but obviously above it
Might be worth removing the sump and oil pump for a good clean while you're doing the top end.

after doing some thinking and having another look at the bike,I realised that what I thought was a decibel killer of some description in the end can had no means for the exhaust gases to escape, what its purpose is I have no idea,so obviously the engine has been unable to breathe.I removed the offending item and after charging the shagged battery took it for another run.Well it pulls so much stronger now which isnt really surprising!
After a good run took it home and pulled the engine breather,no smoke just a bit of steam, checked the two outer plugs and they are now the right colour.

So I have been shopping again, new battery, iridium plugs, new air filter ordered and picked up an oil filter and some oil.New seat cover arrived as well.Still need to compression check and may order some dyna coils,I want the bike running properly before I strip it for cosmetics.

Been in touch with a company about ceramic coating the harris exhaust, they reckon about 120 to coat the downpipes

the bike was a bit reluctant to start, but with a new battery and hooked upto a trickle charger it is starting 1st time.
Air filter and crankcase breather fitted to help the motor breathe properly.
The harris pipe that came with the bike had a big dent in one of the down pipes so got some rubber bungs off ebay, filled it with water and lobbed it in the freezer for a few hours. This got 95 % of the dent out so took it to a local fab shop who put a blob of weld on the remains of the dent and I ground and filed it smooth, worked out really well.Got a race baffle for it and some new badges as well.

things are slowly progressing, forks and yokes swapped for kais overhauled zrx12 items, modded kerker, still got new chain and sprockets and zxr750 wheel to go in,seat refurbished, won a brand new clock cover on ebay, finally got taylor leads, after waiting 3 months from a uk supplier bought them direct from the states, dyna coils still to go on,once everything is sorted it will get stripped for frame repainting and engine cosmetics,be autumn time probably

You're a bit ahead of me there Weaver, looking good.

You've made me wonder if my Zephyre stuff is modern enough, that ZRX front end looks the business.

Cheers,

Mark

the zrx running gear works well mate, front end goes straight in as well, swingarm just needs an insert to make up for the difference in the shaft diameters
