This is a great looking project Z1015, Just a querry about
Was going 530 with 18 - 35
Ye Gods !! are you going for the land speed record this would work out at a final reduction ratio of 1.94, yikes! I have 17/38 which pulls 140mph @ 10000rpm, with an 18 tooth i would guess imho at something like a 42 tooth sprocket, keep the pictures comming, Best Regards, Steve.

Yes, we had this conversation last week when i rang about ordering the offset 630 sprocket. On my z1r i'm running 17 - 33 630 pitch with 17"s . It pulls like a train from low revs and tops out at about 165+ @ 11500rpm . Have tried 15-33, 15 -36 and 17-36 but went like a motocrosser and just wheelspun everywhere. Got a std z1r box in it i'm sure ? but was built from a pile of ex race bits ?. Am now going 19-40 with the 530) You are right about the 1.941-1 ratio but that compensates for the reduced dia of the 17" rims. Been running this like this for 7 years now and don't get out accelerated by bandit 12's and the like which really upsets them.

Had a manky CX500 trike in recently for a bit of work and a service. Had a pair of these awful ducati cans grafted on and mounted to the footrest rubbers with wood screws  HO HO! Kept burning his feet.
Image
Built him a stainless 2-1 with gixer 1000 can and ended up tripping over the remains for the past week. Had nothing to do this weekend and was going to bin the cans but had a bit of a brainwave and did this. >>-->
Dismantled the best looking can and chucked the mechanical baffle

Stuck the ally sleeve in the lathe and skimmed off the mouldy anodising and ducati logos.
Image
Then extracted the perforated baffle tube from an old oval can .
Image
Then after cutting down the sleeve i modded the salvaged baffle and tidied up the stainless ducati end caps and ended up with these.

Another inspiring piece of work! Makes me wonder though, have you actually spent any money on this, or is it all hand made :?

I too have gone for a 530 conversion on the Saxon Turbo. I run 18/38 which gives me about 175mph @ 10,000rpm. Personally I feel it's just right for a motor with more than standard horsepower.

This gets better and better and puts off-the shelf bolt-on bits restores to shame.

I love that tailpiece, Where Can I get one? (obviously off-the shelf  as I am not clever enougth to make one. )

Cheers
Phil.
