The circlip is out :hoo
oops, got too excited not much else is budging.
The 'plunger' part is definitely 'free', the spring is returning it with great vigour  .
Put it back into soaking mode for the time being, then I'll get a bit more aggressive later
(A bit worried the plastic 'filler' on the side (( which also is fused in place)) may be the part to surrender first  )
Buying a potential problem (which I've already got) doesn't sit well with me either. I'll just keep at it until something gives way
cheerz freddy :D

Found it much easier to remove the bleed nipple while the hanger was still attached
Probably should have done this job while still attached to the legs

Hanger separated from the caliper, sliders stripped off . (We are on a roll :P )
Funny how things can get easier with practice

Noticed on this caliper, that the face of the piston has a small amount missing (tried to highlight /make darker the intact part).
Will this make any odds????
My thoughts on it are, theres plenty of flat surface for the back of the pad to sit flush with :?:

Piston pushed back with trusty g clamp again
Image

started prepping the calipers for a turn in the blaster
(What did I do before the blasting cabinet :?:  )
washers and masking tape (what a strange mixture!)
ImageImageImage

And of course the hangers before they go in there as well

Now then, the front reservoir is looking quite rough
Image
removed the brake light wiring, no apparent problems there.
Image
the plunger is moving freely and I can remember the front brake worked a treat :up

The screw heads on the reservoir lid were (as expected) chewed up and no purchase could be had
I weighed up my various options I had to hand :| quite limited .
while doing this stripdown, my 'black & decker wizard' (dremel) decided not to want to play anymore. So I decided on my next best tool for the job :?: multi-tool cutter, with my smallest metal blade fitted. This proved to be a right handful and left me with not just cuts in the screw heads  but, it had 'scratched' into both sides of each screw head as well
Image

I had previously tried (many years ago) chopping a new 'flat head' into a screw and ended up breaking the lid and thus rendering it useless. But, other than drilling the heads off ( last resort :?: ) I couldn't see any other viable alternative.

With the aid of a couple more butchering tools, enough of a 'flat head' was created and success was had :hot :hoo

The only part that hasn't come out as good as I'd like :x is the front brake reservoir lid.
If you remember, while trying to get the 2 screws out, I put a couple of cuts in the top
These are still visible :( I could file 'em then re-blast, but I think the paint will fill the scratches up :up

i would use p38 body filler to fill the nicks in the reserved lid, trying to use
paint as a filler doesnt always work and its a pain to have to resand and fill later on.

The rear master cylinder has taken a battering
there are now a couple of pieces that have chipped off, (due to je hitting it too hard  )
It may be game over for this part
I've left it to soak again, but I think it's too welded. I managed to actually get hold of the end of the circlip, but it just snapped.difficult to get a photo

The front master cylinder / reservoir has blasted up nicely :P
went a little bit timid on this, best safe than sorry :??
The only minor problem is behind the window.
You can see a little corrosion, I've tried to get in throgh the slot at the rear but it's to no avail :(

Is it possible to remove the inspection window and then replace it :?: :?:

Made a start at stripping the front end.
Noticed straight away that the discs are held on by 6mm (allen head) studs, whereas the rear was held on by 5mm :??
6mm seemed to ring true with me, from some vague memory of snapping 6mm allen keys on I think GT750 discs
ImageImage

you'll notice on the second picture, the mudguard has a split in it
I did no this was their. But I had never seen this happen before :?:
it doesn't really matter because it won't be going back on
