I agree this bike looks gorgeous. And I like the high bars. I especially like the mix of modern suspension and wire wheels, pure class.

Hi Chris, Ginger Bear suggested I had a look at your
project thread, and wow, that front end really suits your bike,
and I hope you don't mind if I copy it

How do you find the handling / ride comfort etc.?

Handles okay, not sure it's much better than it was to start with, but with most specials that's what your aiming for as some handle worse than a standard bike... Still developing it really.

Comfort is fairly good, Edersee last year was quite a long run and was no problem whatsoever.

Yeah I know what you mean, when I had built my
z900 with a JMC monoshock it was such a much harder ride and a be-atch to tweak the suspension as the shock was just conventional not a gas one, and on first ride out, it was a bit like riding a bucking bronto around corners  But still, yeah we want the appeal of individuality with our own project bike's, and worry about the fine tuning later whether it handles better than before or not :?? I'd much rather buy a really straightforward front end that satisfies me enough aesthetically than spend thousands more on say Ohlin's, to find it still doesn't make much difference with the old dinosaur frame(s)
That's why basically I just want to budget where I can on the parts that I can avoid wasting thousands on, like the front disks and calipers too, as the standard Kawasaki one's that come with the forks will be better enough than the old Z series calipers etc.

Chris,
did you have these yokes made bespoke for the forks?

Yeah Nigel Kimber NK Racing made them. I needed a bit of extra width to use the Tokicos with the spoked wheels, and a bit more step and offset than Zx9 yokes - which is what the forks came off. With hindsight I should probably have just put the Billets back on it they were better stoppers. They're going to go on the Lawson now.

Not at all Jason, I was referring to the greatly extended lead time Chris had to endure by the original supplier whilst having these made. No doubt, something he'd rather forget.

GB is referring to the two and a half year blind alley I went up with another supplier and a set of ZX7 forks that is not mentioned in the thread due to the amount of swearing that would have been involved...
