I've waited patiently all week for another installment......... Anything to report :?
Got Exhaust Craft to do me a set of headers and collector with a few tweaks to make it sit closer to the front frame tubes. Should be winging it's way to me at this very moment. Maybe get some pic's of it bolted on at weekend if i'm lucky and then there's nothing to stop me firing it up and setting the timing. Will need to finish off a few details £ ? :( , chain & sprockets ££? :( , and sort out a silencer £££ ?:( , then just a good paint job ££££? and were away :D

The parts have been posted,as we missed the post today,i would imagine you will get them on Monday.

I have just had a 34t 530 Renthal sprocket made to fit a ZX7R carrier, which I won't be using now. I think I have read that you're using ZX7R wheels. Your's for half price + p&p if it's any good to you!

Cheers. Will give it some thought. Was going 530 with 18 - 35 as it works out as near as poss to the 17 - 33 i'm running on the Z1R's 630, which is about perfect but maybe the blower will pull a tooth less without to much trouble? P.s. pm me the price ok.

Thanks for the offer GB but i've just been in the shed to do a bit of measuring and can see where the problem lies with running 530 pitch. To retain some chain/swingarm clearance i need to have the same core diameter as the 33t 630 rear sprocket which turns out to be a 39 tooth 530. Trouble is i would then need a 20t front to get the equivalent of my 630's 17 -33 gearing (1.941). Running 530 with 17" wheels is no good as to get the required clearance means going undergeared. These 530 sprockets are ok with 18" wheels as the std gearing is 2.2 which gives an 18-39 or 40 closest equivalent of the original 630's 15-33. So it looks as though i'm gonna have to go with the original Z 630 sprocket which does bolt straight on the zxr wheel.

You've got me thinking now!
Perhaps I should switch to 630 :? Debbens told me the biggest 530 sprocket that could be fitted was a 19t, but that would have to be specially made £100ish..... Ouch.
I am now planning to fit an 18t front 40t rear, but that might change by next week!

Just had the same conversation with debbens. Wanted to buy a 17t 630 offset with bearing nose but they are now unobtainable so now might have to go 530 but as you say 19t is £100+ even without the nose so am now thinking 18 - 39 with the 530 but at 2.1 its will still be a touch under geared and i'll not have to use the outrigger coz they only do the nose up to 17t for £45 then we're back to £100+ if i want it on the 18t coz its special order. So i think 18-39 /18-40 is gonna be the best of a bad job. Bugger! :(

Hey zed1015, your project is looking soooo good. Can I have it when it's finished?.......... You might have considered it for more than a nano second before you refused!

Finally got an exhaust sorted out. After mucho fruitless searching of autojumbles and evil bay i finally went against my religion and actually spent some proper cash. After negotiations with exhaust craft we came up with a slightly altered version of the 4-1 headers and collector he produces. I wasn't too keen on how the std version sits away from the frame harris style so got him to fetch everything closer to the engine for a more tucked in look which you should be able to see in comparing the two pic's. A not unexpected result of the exhaust alteration meant that the collector sat a couple of inches further back and seriously fouled the oil filter housing.
Image
Not wanting to shorten the headers and move the collector forward i fitted one of mister APE's low profile filter covers and drain plug
Image
These use an allen cap head style bolt head as opposed to the std hex bolt head and sits higher than the sump finning

Next job was to start building the link pipe and connector. I had a std stainless zx9r exhaust that provided this short length of 60mm tube. Image.
Which was a perfect fit for this unknown link pipe (which will be cut shorter later) and just happens to fit the lines of the bike. Image Image
Just need to decide on the style of end can. Can't decide whether something along the lines of this GP style might suit?

Glad to see it's still progressing, good luck with the rest of the build.
