Yup they're the stock badges.

I think they went

1978 - Z1000/Z1R
1979 Z1R/1000
1980 Z1R-11/Z1000

Very nice Chris :up :up
I have to agree with Padders
Only comment is on the Z1R front mudguard, it seems very close to the tyre watch for expansion when you ride the bike could end up rubbing.

I had a Z1r which I had resprayed in silver and refitted the stock front mudgaurd. The first time I was rode it enthusiastically, braking as hard as I could to make a roundabout I burnt the paint of the front of the centre of the mudgaurd, I was amazed at how much the tyre grew once it got up to speed and some heat into it. Best Regards, Steve

er

oops

2 front mudguards - 1 for a 19 inch from wheel and 1 obviously for an 18 inch front wheel. now swapped over and lots of clearance

anyone want a Z1R mudguard ????

OK...... I'm confused.. :D I just can't figure this one out. I have never seen those fuel tank badges of yours on any Z1-R, Z1000 or any other Kawasaki street bike that I can remember. The closest I get is the 74/75 KX 250, although they had stickers. Here's my version:

1978 D1
Image

According to the parts manual and the recognition manual, The D2 an D3 had this badge style (the picture show a chrome badge, but it has the same letter types as the D2 and D3. Note the letter "a")

Here's the 74/75 KX 250 graphics. Note the letter "a"

Chris' bike. Again, note the letter "a"

What did I miss ? Can someone please explain this to a dizzy norwegian Z1-R fan ? :D

From the rec manual

bad form to reply to ones own post but an update.

I was talking twaddle with regards to the age of the Z900 its a march '76 model not a 1977 - thanks to Jerry for the advice/dating letter.

That too now has a new MOT and UK registration was applied for today. This is the first time its been on the road in (I believe) 25 years.

If the DVLA get their finger out (unlikely) it may even make the Ace on Sunday.
