^^^^^ haha Steve, I always manage to cover my tracks and fingers crossed she'll not find out how much bike bits actually cost

However, if I die some lucky sod will get the bargain of the century

I need some help, The previous owner had cut off this bracket on the right rear of the frame.
I am asking that, if somebody has a Z1000J frame laying around, if they could take a photo of what this bracket should look like and post it up here, so I can manufacture the piece thats been cut out and weld it in
Here it is

Image

The motor is now out so on monday its off to the sand blaster then when I get it back there are a few places underneath that also need some welding

Image

With the exception of wheels and body panels, everything stripped off the bike now fits into this Big Jim Bin

Image

On Monday I also pick up my home plating kit, Im gonna try and replate all the bolts nuts and washers myself - if it turns out to be expensive school fees then I'll just take them to a professional plating shop

Its just a loop of flat material with a captive square nut fixed to the back to carry an 8mm bolt for the grab rail.
See nut on the other side.

Just noticed youre frame and i see what looks like some extra bits welded in there!
The 'X' bracing behind the engine looks a little unusual unless its an optical illusion!!

zorded -Thanks for the pic
The X piece is a frame brace mod that was popular back in the day here in South Africa as a method of strengthening the frame, similar to the method of gusseting the old Z900 and Z1000 frames
It "allegedly" improves handling, IMO its questionable
