Had another little detail to sort - thanks for the link Bear.....

Monster Craftsmen are ace - they shipped from the USA and it came to a total of £89 all-in...... they are smart and even made sure the item was tax friendly  I'd highly recommend them!!!!!

Now it's nice & sunny - took the bike for a longer run - 50 miles round trip to West Bay :P

Image

Plenty of bikes - not much to shout about apart from the one on the far left .....

Image

...... note the bloke taking a good look even if his bird was getting in the way
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

I've been looking at the chain tensioners, what size chain are you running? Is it a 530?

Cheers,
Rod

I think the tax friendly thing is my fault 'cos mine got stitched up for £22 import duty on its way in :(

Thanks for that, sorry, just one more question; I see you adapted the tensioner to a bracket. Is that because it won't fit around the cross member?

Cheers,
Rod

Yep - think they sent the wrong diameter - BUT theres sweet FA room for it on the frame tube anyhow as the brazing is in the way  It's fixed to the sidestand cross member so easily removed.

Also got an R1 hugger off eBay (£10) and it does the job....

Looks like a plan Piggy.

I'd be tempted to countersink the top slider & screw it to the swinger as well. If it comes off & gets stuck between the chain & front sprocket you'll be toast. :ek And we don't want that. :no :no

don't be tempted do it,it will not last 5 mins i suggest, not even to the local shop.

I did the same and used some 4mm csk screws...

the consequences are dire.
Life shouldn't be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, cigar in one hand, beer in the other, body used up, totally worn-out and screaming, "WOO HOO, what a ride!"

That might just 'Save your Bacon' Piggy. :up

I can help you out with a couple of Rivnuts if there's not enough meat there, I'm guessing there should be plenty to tap a decent M6 thread.

This issue has always been a problem on the Harris', especially with a round tube swing arm. I've tried all sorts of bodges. Now I'm thinking a liquid based resin that can be applied to make a mould could be the way to go. That way it could be enclosed and bolted together in two halves. Or, just apply a load of it in layers straight on the the arm.

Any thoughts?
