Did I read correctly that the frame is painted that colour ?? I thought it was nickle plated.

Yep, it's a powder coat. Nice and easy to maintain. I think, Ian (Is Vic There) is going the same route. Here's the company that does it: http://www.aerocoat.co.uk/

Cheers,
Rod

Yep, so impressed I've nicked the idea

Old GPZ Laser down pipes and collector with a titanium can adapted to fit. We messed about with a few different ideas, this one came out all right. The can is feather light, but I don't know what it gonna sound like!

Stunning!!! I really admire people that can do work like this themselves.
I have just had new coils, HT leads and a front light alteration and a few other jobs done on my Z1000 but I had someone else do it cos I don't have the know how. I have big plans for the bike but its not the same when you are relying on someone else to do the work :(

I've done 4 rebuilds on this bike in the last 25 years. Once, I stripped her down to the bare frame in 5 hours, but that was many years ago! I don't do it all myself. Bits are sent off and mates lend a hand. This time round, my mate Paul Hands did most of the work and that's why it's the best build to date. All in the detail and it takes ages. Probably won't be on the road for another year, because I just don't have the time, but I will enjoy working on the various parts and trying to get them right.

I am in the same boat as you mate ( no engineering skills ) all I do is bolt it together but we do what we can.

Finished a rebuild once at 2 in the morning and set off for Scotland at 08.00. It rained of course and I forgot to use nylocks on the rear sets. The brake lever came off at the same time as my rear luggage on a roundabout. My kit was all over the place - what a c*nt. Funny thing was, a Hells Angel stopped and helped my sort out the mess. Top bloke he was. Off he went on his Harley and off I went to Scotland.
