Well I've learnt something new again!
Saw an early A4 today, matching numbers with frame number 89*** and it had the same Z1 style front gusset as yours, not only that but it didn't have the "3700cc" oil capacity cast on the cases (same as Z1) so obviously there are carry overs from the Z1 on earlier Z9's.
