Welcome home Steve, just in time for the next lot of snow!
That front end is looking good. What is the clearance like between the tank and forks/bottom yoke? I've just got a 03 Z1000 front end to go into my LTD and I'm hoping to use the standard yokes. I'll be interested to see what you come up with to extend the top shock mounts also.

Simon,
Steering lock appears to be fairly good, hopefully I'll have some wheels & handlebars on it next week, so I'll have a better idea then.
With regard to the shock mounts, I'm considering using some M16 stainless socket cap bolts & turning them down to the same diameter as the shock mount, then drilling & cutting a thread internally that will wind onto the existing shock mount thread. Failing that I'll drill/grind out the original mounts & turn some longer ones, then re-weld them.

Joking aside Simon, I will gladly turn the odd bit 'n bob for you, although I'm no expert.......... I'm still relying on what I learnt at school....... which was quite a while ago!

It would make a good ornament for my garage GB but I wouldn't have a clue how to use it. Not turned anything on a lathe since my motorcycle mechanics course in 1982 and even then I think I broke more things than I made. Don't know how I managed to pass as I spent most of the time chasing the girlies.
Anyway, I digress, it will be a long time before I get round to fitting the ZRX arm but I'll be interested to see how you do your shock mounts in the meantime. Thanks for the offer anyway, I'll definitely take you up on that!

Been busy sorting out my top shock mount extension today. This is the swinger I plan to use, & as you can see, it has a bit of an 'offset'!
The shocker on the right hand side seems to line up pretty much spot on. The other side is a different matter.
I thought about cutting the mount out completely & making a longer one, but thought I'd try something a little easier first.
I made a little threaded sleeve to screw over part of the threaded part of the mount.
Then I turned another spacer to fit between the base of the mount & the shock.
This still left a good 10mm of thread, which I'll use with a thin washer & threadlock, when the time comes.
The other side, by comparison seems almost too long........ But that should be easier to deal with!
