LOL believe it or not that is actually where that book lives. Having the book in the pic was just coincidence.

As for the question weather to paint or powdercote??? I have ben mulling over this for the past 12 months. Sooo if I don't powdercote the frame what is the best paint to paint it with and what is the correct colour?? .

I painted my Z900 frame with a gloss black 2 pac paint. It looked very good, perhaps a little too shiney. So any comments and advise on the frame paint will be apreciated.
Cheers, Apple's

Cheap and nasty black acrylic...speak to a painter and explain that you want something that doesn't need to be a mile thick (no 2 pac) also not too glossy. Be prepared to do several tests with different black paints.
Get it right and it will look great, get it wrong and it will just look like another tarted up trailer Queen polished and painted to within an inch of its life.

Maine KZ did his like this. Nice and thin with the paint which once left to cure lost the intense shine and looked very factory indeed.

gbh I have almost been converted to the way of the purist!! I will paint the frame. I almost took the lazy option and was going to get it blasted and powdercoted.

Chainoiler. Crowie has the tank, tailpiece, guards, sidecovers and bikini fairing to be painted in Jaffa colours. Painting candy is a bit advanced for me but for the frame I'll do it myself. I'll save a few $'s and get the finish I'm after.

Dave. I see you don't like too much shiney bling. Don't panic the polished alloy will lose it's shine with age! That's if I don't keep polishing it  He He

Maine KZ has set the benchmark. Wow thats a hard act to follow but a good resource for ideas and ways to do things.

I'm off to Melbourne on holidays for Christmas So I'll be putting the spanners down for a week or so and do the family thing. Gotta keep the bride happy.

Stay tuned for more adventures of Apple's and his Shiney Z1.

. ?Could this site with all its` members and all their knowledge not produce a reference log to enable all who wish to build a "Proper Zed"
to do so? I realise there is loadsa info dotted amongst various threads,
why not condense? Work for someone maybe but "we" could each add our bit...then shoot the shit,to get the result required.
Not trying to Hijack a thread, just plant a seed....save the cheap jokes.
Let`s get it sorted.

i tried a thread like that a couple of weeks ago, it just turned into a playground, i changed the title to "8 good points and 18 crap jokes" i think it would make forum searching easier if it was done.

Re Dave's Book i'm not going to slate it, It is a fantastic book and absoutly packed with hard to find and usefull info, And he is a very helpfull fella who really knows his Zeds inside out,

Another Z1 bible would be a sell out, And i know just the man who has the ability and knoweledge in abundance to do it and do it correctly/accuratly..He just probably hasn't time, unfortunate for us who would love to get it....
