Gotta say........ I'm surprised but really pleased with the positive comments about the wheels, I was expecting to get slated for that decision :D

I only hope you all like the shocking pink and neon green paint scheme I have planned for it

I like the wheels too very different, regarding the paint, I can sell you a set with pink in it!! Candy Blue and Pink painted by Dream Machine in the 80,s to my mates design, then when he got it didnt like it so kept it and had the Z1B brown paint done which is on it now!

The other set is in a cupboard in my office never been used! Its very very period!!!!

I had to go and buy a Christmas tree and various other things but yes I did put in a few hours. I rebuilt the forks which took me longer than I thought. I'd forgotten how difficult it could be to remove the old seals (safe to say the old ones weren't worth keeping as spares after I'd finished surgically removing them) but the new ones slipped in easy enough with the help of Mrs CS's hairdrier. Forks look lovely with new seals, boots, tubes and Mikey's polished sliders.

I also cleaned out all the threads in the frame and swinging arm. Griffs did a good job of masking and packing but still left a fair amount of work to finish it off.

I didn't get around to fitting the motor as I seem to have lost the bottom mounting plate and the new bolt set hasn't arrived yet but hopefully that will happen this weekend if I can get hold of a mounting plate.

Can't wait to get it looking like a real bike again. Still agonising over the paint though, think I will go with something original??

Managed a few hours in the playroom today. Doesn't look like much but it feels good to have the engine back in the frame. I used the 'frame onto engine' method and I can't believe how easy it was.

Hopefully should be able to press on a bit now as I've been waiting for the lower engine plate to arrive and didn't want to start putting the chassis together until I'd fitted the engine. I'm glad I waited.

Must confess, I did get a bit sidetracked by my Christmas present to myself  I got this Z1000LTD because it didn't seem right to mash up the Z1a and I can't think of a better bike to mess with than the LTD if you know what I mean :!: Not all madness as I can use the front and back ends on my little SR650 which has been neglected for a few years.

Looks to be a pretty tidy ltd Simon. Shame to dick around with it too much.............then again get in there. It will be nice to see the z1a returned to a z1a if that is your plan.
