AGM

#1 PostAuthor: Taffus » Thu Oct 09, 2008 12:52 pm

Hi
Keep on seeing the AGM mentioned in various posts.
What is the story with this?
Can any member attend? I there an agenda? Who decides the discussion topics?

What say do paid up members have?

Regards

Any paid up member is welcome to attend. The agenda is decided by what anyone attending feels needs discussed. Where it is will be confirmed when we know, hopefully it'll be posted on here and obviously anyone who's at the show anyway can ask at the club stand.

Hmm, ok, is the AGM minuted? and if so where are the minutes held?
I am just trying to understand how the club operates, I was suprised to she Shrek being told he had to consult "Jerry" if he wants to hold a rally and the sudden need for Paul Doran to be coordinating things ...........

If there are rules than no problem just need to know what they are! :D

Hmmmmm yes.

Notice of an AGM / invitation to attend.

Minutes of last AGM.

Election of officers.

Although I have paid my cheque to the club, I have had no confirmation of membership ?

Am I entitled to attend / vote ?

Since I am usually the only person who isn't drinking I normally take notes on what goes on at the meeting . These notes are then expanded on when I get home and do a write up for the club magazine . The minutes I take are normally held in my pocket until I do the write up , then they are held in everyones magazine . There was no sudden need for Paul to be event co-ordinator that happened a while back to try to help events not clashing . As far as consulting Jerry goes he can help with setting things up and advise on the problems that crop up , he also provides funds for trophies . Makes sense to talk to him really . We try to keep the club running with the least amount of rules possible and it seems to work as most of the members have a bit of common sense filed away somewhere . Don't remember any problems that the club hasn't sorted out . Most problems come from the web site and are caused by people on the site who are not necessarily club members , you don't need to be a club member to be active on the site .

Ok, didn't mention any problems but see your point (fully paid up member by the way)
I was just looking for clarification, I am hoping to get up to the meeting (if circimstances allow)
Maybe it is time for a members section on the site where things affecting the members can be discussed without the interfrence of trolls etc?

It is the open nature of the community that made me join in the first place.

I agree. I joined `cause it`s a nice place to be.

If you are to call it an AGM though then there is a process !

Submission of accounts to members for one !

You guys that do the organising get my vote of thanks as most people as I`ve stated before don`t have the time or inclination to get that involved.

If you wanted to call it a meeting of the Board then ordinary members don`t get to vote on what they (the Board) have agreed upon, but an AGM is different is it not ?

I don`t want to vote in / out anyone, cause for the short time I`ve been here I can see that things run fantastically well. I like the informality :D

The accounts are published annually in the magazine. It's not a meeting of the Board because there is no Board

Thanks Mr Admin.

Since I haven`t had a mag yet, and it has been explained why, then I wouldn`t know !

Should I have sent an S.A.E for my Membership Card ?

this is fine if you supply to us newer members the magazine in question, this is my first year so I have no history of accounts etc.
Its not in the mag I got.

Given we have the power of immediate publication through this forum, surely it shoulld all be copied here? It is not much too much to ask

I'm only going as I feel it's my duty as area rep to represent the Z1 Owners in the south west - I have to drink for all the South West members who are unable to attend :kod
