TRACKDAYS 2015

#1 PostAuthor: Al » Wed Jan 21, 2015 10:23 pm

Some trackdays for us from the two guys (Z1OC members) who run Classicbiketrackdays specifically for our 'older' bikes.
http://www.classicbiketrackdays.com/
There's around ten or so on zeds, the others are every other conceivable make and model you could imagine. I'm booked in - cant wait.

Long version;

Hi,

We hope you’ve all had a good Christmas and New Year, but with 2015 truly underway now is the time to look ahead and start getting our bikes ready for the sunny weather (?!) and out on track, and we hope you’ll be able to join us at one or more of the three weekend track events we’re organising this year at Anglesey, Cadwell and Snetterton – not forgetting our annual pilgrimage to Spa Francorchamps for the Bikers Classics.

30-31 May: Anglesey – Coastal Circuit

Our first weekend event of 2015 kicks off on Anglesey’s stunning Coastal Circuit over the bank holiday weekend, but with the added bonus that this trackday is part of the all-new Welsh Classic Motorcycle Festival which we’re organising in partnership with Anglesey Circuit. There's 16 hours of tracktime over Saturday and Sunday, club and trade displays in the paddock and Thunderfest taking to the track during the lunchbreaks. During the evening we’ll have a band or two playing in the bar while you're reliving how amazing you were on track earlier in the day!

4 groups: Superbike, BEARs, Pocket Rocket, Novice
5 sessions (1 hour 45mins) for every rider
105dBA static noise limit
free professional tuition, tyre support from Continental, onsite mechanic, on-track insurance available
free camping on Friday & Saturday night for riders +1
£129 for either day, or £238 for the whole weekend

THE SOCIAL STUFF!

Saturday Night’s Bands, Bars & BBQs:

Our events have become more than just trackdays, with a great atmosphere and social get together happening throughout the weekend. The Clubhouse bars at Anglesey, Cadwell and Snetterton will be open on Saturday evening so everyone can have a few beers and tell their favourite stories whilst listening to the band or having some grub. Go easy on the fizzy stuff if you're riding on Sunday of course, but if not you can wake up to the sound of old bikes on track, have a fry-up in the restaurant and enjoy having a day chilling out in the paddock!

Spectators & Camping:

You don't have to ride on track to attend our events as individuals and clubs are always welcome to come along and spectate, even have a group display of bikes and stay over for the evening to see the band, have a few beers, a BBQ and camp.

Camping is free for riders +1 and will be given a camping wristband when they enter the circuit.

We look forward to seeing you later this year!

Thanks for posting this Al, and giving the Z1OC a quick heads-up on what we're doing this year. . . . it's amazing how many club members have booked already for Anglesey and Cadwell - it's looking like a Big K event already!! As soon as we have more information about Snetterton we'll update the site and forums.

These events aren't just for track riders though as we'd really like to see more clubs have displays alongside the paddock - in fact club displays will be a big part of the Anglesey weekend as this will be the first Welsh Classic Motorcycle Festival, with clubs, trade, track action all day Saturday and Sunday, and the Thundersprint on both days too. . . before the bar opens and the bands are on!

If the Z1OC would like to have a stand - just let us know for how many bikes on the Saturday and/or Sunday. It'll be great to see a mixture of Zs there :)

i'm booked for Cadwell. Angelsey might be a bit too far away. Snetterton is a distinct probability.

Also worth watching MSV Trackdays as they occasionally post up a classics only event.

#6 PostAuthor: KWACKERZ1 » Thu Jan 22, 2015 10:42 am

Piggy,
Everything is miles away from you!!!

This is closer probably and is something I intend to have a ride to if not participate in.
Its a french version of the festival of 1000 bikes.

There is also OMCC which i have joined as well as a few others.
The UK two day event (Cadwell Park) filled in three days but the ARD (airfield riding days) though confirmed dates, are not immediately open to booking.
Should be within the next week or so and will fill similarly quickly if not sooner.

I'm doing Angelsey and Cadwell both days, it takes 5 hours from Bath - well worth the traveling to be be able to properly open the bike up and not have fear plod is hiding round the next corner. Its good to watch the other groups too and some fantastic bikes in the pits.

I'm booked for both Anglesey and Cadwell. No doubt Snetterton as well when bookings are released. Anglesey is a long way from me but a lot closer than Spa which is also on the CBT lineup. It looks an exciting track and a good weekend with all the other events on.

Martin, I’m glad you've got all the problems sorted. I was about to take up a gym membership in case I had to keep bump starting you.

No major changes to my bike this year. Most of the problems I've had with it are electrical so I ripped the loom out a few weeks ago and rewired it from scratch.
I’m only going to use it on the track this year so I'm not running any lights or charging systems.
I've removed the alternator so I can fit a chamfered casing for more ground clearance.
I’m also fitting some two-pot callipers to which I can fit race compound pads.
The standard calipers have plenty of power with the radial master cylinder but even the EBC HH pads overheat on the track with 280mm discs.
But that could be due to me following the great Kevin Schwantz’s braking style.
He was asked how he picked his braking markers, to which he replied, “I brake when I see God".
