North East ride out tomorrow

Well, what a day, as Simon said the Sun did indeed have his hat on and it was a lovely day. We duly arrived at the holiday Inn I got there first on my Z1B, followed by Chris T on his stunning H2A and Rob H on the Vincent Black Shadow,which really does get ridden a lot considering what it is, half an hour later Simon H rolled up on his S1C: Dead Yak on the Line at Uxbridge apparently 
Anyway a couple of pics of the troops ready to go.
Off we went and took the lovely Northumberland Coastal tourist route up towards Bamburgh, that's where the RNLI was begun by Grace Darling for the non locals out there.
Just at the turn off for Craster: world's finest kippers, again for non locals. Simon's bike decided to lose all gearbox drive. It was all hands to the pumps , as you can imagine it was a big job taking the piss out of him for breaking down
It was the old problem on these bikes of the drive sprocket retaining nut coming loose. Anyway , we didnt have the correct tools to sort it, but you talk about lucky a factory technician for Simon's exact model of bike was passing and stopped to help
In reality the guy was a local farmer and a real old fashioned good Samaritan , he went home and got his tool kit and waited around the twenty minutes it took Simon to fix the problem 8)
We then carried on up to Bamburgh finishing with a world class Tea and Cream Scone in the Tea Shop there.
It's only teething problems with the S1C as it is a really tight, Crisp 250 that did the 30 mile, 75 mph run back down the A1 beautifully.
All in all a really good Indian Summer's day of 120 wonderful biking miles to round off what's been an excellent motorcycling year
