Stafford 2013, Our 25th Anniversary Stand.

#1 PostAuthor: Ginger Bear » Thu Nov 08, 2012 7:50 pm

Ok, next year is the clubs 25th anniversary as I'm sure you all know by now. This is something that I think you would all agree, should be marked with an 'extra special' club stand at Stafford.

I spoke to Jerry at this year's Stafford & mentioned a 'theme' that had been suggested to me by Ted1R back in 2010. Jerry seemed happy with the idea in principle, but agreed it would take some work to organize & we may have to 'request' (read into that what you will  ) bikes, rather than wait for volunteers.

'EVOLUTION of the ZED' was Ted's idea. We could probably squeeze about 12 bikes onto the stand, so can't quite represent every production model, but hopefully we could cover most. A rough outline would be (all displayed in 'evolutionary' order) Z1, Z1A, Z1B, Z900, Z1000A, Z1000MkII, Z1000H, Z1000J, GPz1100B, Z1000/1100R, & maybe a TC, ST or Unitrak  But you get the idea........

I personally think, this would be an excellent 'theme' for the stand (not that we'll win anything at Stafford), but will require some effort.

Another 'theme' that could be a possibility is a endurance/race bike theme, as mentioned in MartinZ1000R's project thread;

I hope I don't live to regret this, but's...........................

I'd second the SPESHULL theme - as in HARRIS, SPONDON, TURBO, SUPERCHARGED, P&M, RICKMAN......... etc

Mine will be ready by then
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Paul, something else I'd talked to Jerry about (at another show) was using a flat panel (plasma or led) display to show footage of anything we could find interesting, still's on a DVD as a slide show would work well, video of any event would also work well, we've got some prolific photographers in the club, Keith & Kevin spring to mind.
If the 25th anniversary rally 'comes off', we could show footage of that.... I might even do the 'Jaeger dance'.

Endurance/ racer Idea gets my 1st vote.

To be honest its always the specials that get the attention of the crowds "if not the judges" So a display of rarer race style bikes would be a good pull.

Plus there are some very good special's built by some very talented people on here and they could do with showing sometime.

Just a thought though,
If we want to do a evolution type display what about a standard model say a z1 and then one of the clubs z1 based specials sort of back to back!
then a 1000 std then a special 1000
then a mk2 std then a special mk2 (sprint bike say!)
You get the idea

That way we can showcase both sides of the club, standard restorations and interesting specials!!

Personally that would do it for me the thought of another long line display of standard bikes would be exactly the same as kawasaki are planning at the bike show this year!

Standard Models

Standard and Modded

Specials

If I can help in any way let me know,

I like the evolution theme, or a combination of std/specials but not keen on just specials even though I personally prefer modified zeds.
