National Protest against EU F***ing up UK Biking - Sunday

I've only just realised that there has been NO mention of the nation protest organised by MAG on here.

Now I'm not hugely into banging gongs, but when I realised what the EU wants to do to my way of life, even I realised that one must stand up and be counted.

Basically, all around the country, bikers are joining up at meeting points at lunch time on Sunday, from where they are to take to the motorways - very slowly!

Here's a link to find more info: http://www.mag-uk.org/en/campaignsdetail/a6883

I'm not a member of MAG, though I do actually wonder if I should be, but as I biker, I feel I should stand up and tell the government/EU that I WILL NOT accept their insane proposals to ruin what is more than a hobby to me!

I think CB and myself will probably meet at Gordano services on the M5, but apparently MAG are constantly updating the web site to stop the pigs from stopping the legal protest - hope to see some Zeds there :D

I have never been in MAG and have always thought of them as attracting the more "hardline biker" types of which I am not one. HOWEVER :?? I have to admit that some of the stuff on their website makes distressing reading with regard to proposed regulations etc.
They undoubtedly deserve our full support to enable us to continue to enjoy bikes without stupid restrictions being imposed by faceless unelected eurocrats.

As Mag rep for Rushden and District (Northants), i am leading a ride on the A14 from Thrapston services, going west, with the Z1-R and Daytona off the road, i shall be on the TS125 er, hope more of you can make the effort, in 2014 riders in Irland will have to have hi-viz jackets, so it's getting closer to us all the time.

I often wear a HiViz top over my textiles in the winter at night when visibility is poor, but I'm f***ed if I want some arse from Brussles telling my I HAVE to wear one all the time.

To be fair though the Hi Viz jackets issue is the least of our problems - try not being allowed to modify bikes in any way shape or form - not even an after market pipe or air filter!!!!

I went on the protest ride in 1988 ( against compulsory leg protectors ),that converged in Hyde Park.

There was thousands of bikes there, but the average public didn't have a clue what was going on. It must have worked though, 'cos leg protectors weren't made compulsory ;)

Rush anyone.....

Red Barchetta
My uncle has a country place
That no one knows about.
He says it used to be a farm,
Before the Motor Law.
And on Sundays I elude the Eyes,
And hop the Turbine Freight
To far outside the Wire,
Where my white-haired uncle waits.

Jump to the ground
As the Turbo slows to cross the Borderline.
Run like the wind,
As excitement shivers up and down my spine.
Down in his barn,
My uncle preserved for me an old machine,
For fifty-odd years.
To keep it as new has been his dearest dream.

I strip away the old debris
That hides a shining car.
A brilliant red Barchetta
From a better, vanished time.
I fire up the willing engine,
Responding with a roar.
Tires spitting gravel,
I commit my weekly crime...

Wind in my hair-
Shifting and drifting-
Mechanical music-
Adrenalin surge...

Well-weathered leather,
Hot metal and oil,
The scented country air.
Sunlight on chrome,
The blur of the landscape,
Every nerve aware.

Suddenly ahead of me,
Across the mountainside,
A gleaming alloy air-car
Shoots towards me, two lanes wide.
I spin around with shrieking tires,
To run the deadly race,
Go screaming through the valley
As another joins the chase.

Drive like the wind,
Straining the limits of machine and man.
Laughing out loud
With fear and hope, I've got a desperate plan.
At the one-lane bridge
I leave the giants stranded at the riverside.
Race back to the farm, to dream with my uncle at the fireside
