If bikes aren't offered, modified or not, how on earth can Jerry hope to get a stand together?

Phil did you not read the original post by Jerry.

Yes i did Steve, i only contacted Jerry the week before the show to see if he needed any help. he told me he was struggling for bikes, so i offered him one of mine, he chose my A4, which is standard, but not mint, but has been owned by me for 20+years and has done around 70,000 miles and i rode it to the show.
I personally, [despite owning two std zeds], love to see modded bikes, the point i was trying to make was, that if no one offers their bikes, because they don't think they are std and/or clean enough, he is always going to struggle.
Perhaps if he had the choice of 20 bikes offered, he could pick the best ones, although that is unlikely to happen.
I guess, [and only Jerry could confirm this] because this show was organized bt the VJMC, he preffered std bikes.
Please don't think i am knocking non std bikes, far from it, i would love to see more people get involved by bringing their bikes to shows.
The best bit of the show for me was meeting up with people i only see rarely and obviously seeing Paul win best Japanese.
Four pipes rule, anything else is second best.

i can recall one year when jerry called me up and asked if i could take the dragbike to stafford to fill the small gap left on the stand .it was a good job i did as we where able to leave the wheelie bar on as around 5 bikes never showed up that had said they would .all credit to jerry for keeping up the levels he does to promote the club ,and dont forget if the club has a stand jerry turns out and gives up his weekend all year every year since ive been a member which is 10 yrs now.

Phil, fair comment.

Ade I dont think anybody is knocking Jerry or anyone else for that matter, i'm certainly not. The efforts made by Jerry and others in organising and attending these events is nothing short of admirable, I think the point was just being made that in this instance it was a little unclear to many as to what bikes would be acceptable thus contributing to a poor response for offers, maybe this thread will now have helped to make things clearer for future occasions.

I haven't had a chance to look through this thread before, as I was up to my arse in vipers trying to sort the show out. I'd like to thank everyone who supported the club at the show, but as to the rest of you that come on here saying "Jerry said this" " Jerry said that" it's a shame that you made up your own restrictions as to what could or could not go on the stand, and didn't bother to ring and offer any bikes, but instead chose to sit on your arses and criticise. If anyone has seen the bikes on the stand at Donnington, or Stafford over the years, you will have seen a good spread of standard AND modified bikes, even Ash's old uncleaned knacker. It's feedback like this that makes me wonder (A) is it all worth it? and (B) Just how far does everyone think their measly ?15 goes in a year? Each show we do costs money, and yes, everything on the stand is paid for by the club, but on a personal level, each show costs me 3 days off work, endless evenings beforehand, and a couple of tanks of fuel for my car - which is all out of the goodness of my heart. I hate to think of this club as "clicky" but there is only the small band of diehards over the years, to which I am eternally grateful, who help to promote the club at these events. I've now been involved with the club for over 15 years, and judging by this, maybe one of you out there can do a better job, seeing as I'm so crap. I await the flood of volounteers (not)
